20th Century Fox acquired The Three Misfortunes of Geppetto
This prequel to Pinocchio focuses on Geppetto's life before creating the Pinocchio marionette. The drama follows his trials and tribulations through war and misfortune, while trying to win over his true love, Julia Moon. Michael Vukadinovich's script hit the market last night, and the deal closed with Fox earlier today.
The Three Misfortunes of Geppetto joins two Pinocchio projects already in development. Guillermo del Toro is teaming up with The Jim Henson Company for Pinocchio, a 3D stop-motion animation project, and Warner Bros. has a live-action Pinocchio project, which Tim Burton is circling.
No production schedule was given for The Three Misfortunes of Geppetto, which is Michael Vukadinovich's first major spec screenplay sale.
