Dreamgirls's Sharon Leal has joined the cast of director Malcolm D. Lee's Soul Men. According to The Hollywood Reporter, both Samuel L. Jackson and Bernie Mac have agreed to co-star in the musically themed project.

The film follows the adventures of two feuding backup soul singers who must regroup after the death of their lead singer. They travel to the Apollo Theater for a tribute in honor of their deceased frontman.

Leal will play Jackson's daughter Cleo. She joins the two singers on their road trip and eventually becomes a singer in their new band. The film will begin shooting later this month.

Soul Men was released November 7th, 2008 and stars Samuel L. Jackson, Bernie Mac, Sharon Leal, Adam Herschman, Sean Hayes, Affion Crockett, Fatso-Fasano, Jackie Long. The film is directed by Malcolm D. Lee.
