Shadow of the Colossus Heading for the Big Screen

Sony is taking one of its video game classics for the PS2 and turning it into a new film. According to Variety, Sony will turn its popular Playstation 2 game Shadow of the Colossus into a feature film.

The studio has hired Justin Marks (Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li) to adapt the video game and Kevin Misher is in negotiations to produce the film. The story centers on a man named Wander who must journey through a dystopic world to defeat 16 enemies known as the colossi to bring a girl back to life. It was said the film would retain the solitary fantasy world and have few characters besides the enemies.

This is just the latest high-profile deal for Marks, who also has such films as Voltron: Defender of the Universe, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and Hack/Slash all in the works.

No production schedule was released for the Colossus adaptation.
