SET VISIT PREVIEW: Green Lantern!

"In Brightest Day ... in blackest night, no evil shall escape my sight, let those who worship evil's might, beware my power ... Green Lantern's light!"

Green Lantern Set Visit Preview

That is the oath that will be heard around the world on June 17th, 2011, as comic book fans everywhere rejoice in the fact that one of the greatest and most beloved characters of all-time is finally coming to the big screen. Green Lantern is based on the popular DC Comics character that first appeared in "All-American Comics" issue #16, way back in 1940. And he has kept up his popularity for almost sixty years. While the character has gone through many changes over the decades and several different people have wielded the powerful ring, the film will tell the tale of Hal Jordan, the most prominent and popular of all the Lanterns. Jordan was a test pilot before the death of Abin Sur, the Lantern assigned to protect Earth's sector of the universe, when Sur's ring chose Jordan as Earth's new protector. Upon taking the Lantern's oath, Jordan was propelled into a world of extra-terrestrial creatures, emerald power rings and outer-space adventures.

Cemetery and Citadel

In August, we had the opportunity to travel to New Orleans and visit the set of the exciting new movie. While we were unable to witness any actual filming, we were given a sneak peak at some of the pre-visual effects created for the film, two fully cut scenes, the Green Lantern uniform, the ring, the lantern itself and a few of the outer-space creatures that will be seen in the movie. In addition to that, we also had the opportunity to speak with actors Ryan Reynolds (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), who will play Hal Jordan, and Mark Strong (Kick-Ass), who portrays Jordan's mentor and future archenemy, Sinestro, as well as director Martin Campbell (Casino Royale), producer Donald De Line (The Italian Job) and DC Comics writer Geoff Johns ("Green Lantern: Rebirth," "Infinite Crisis").

We wanted to let you know that coverage of our visit to the set of Green Lantern will begin running soon. So be sure to charge up your power rings and check back with us in the next few weeks to learn everything you need to know about the Green Lantern!

Green Lantern was released June 17th, 2011 and stars Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong, Temuera Morrison, Jenna Craig, Jon Tenney, Mike Doyle. The film is directed by Martin Campbell.

Kilowog will be in it? Is that for certain? Cuz he rocks in DC animated movie GL: First Flight. I really see him as Hal's sidekick and buddy in a "ring" fight lol.

I'm so pumped to see Kilowog....everytime I see that guy on JTL or animated flicks , he reminds me so much of Granbull, :P lol , just sayin. GL is gonna rock the sci-fi roster

totally agree! this could be a sci-fi phenomenon. i collected green lantern comics when Kyle Rayner took the mantle, but Hal Jordan has come back into the DC universe with a bang and his character is great. Even though i would have liked to see Reynolds as the Barry Allen/The Flash he's a good choice to play him. i think Chris Pine could have been a decent Hal Jordan but Ryan's the man! it has a superb Director in Martin Campbell aswell, he loves his big Action sequences and can deliver a good story. This film will be big and exciting but most of all it will be original, Green lantern is alot more sci-fi than other DC titles so i believe it being so different will attract more viewers. Green lantern is gonna rock!!

@Skywise Oh, I'm excited too. This has potential to be a sci fi masterpiece. Something completely different then what we've seen before.

@theREALsupes noooooooooo i dont like those words. Marvel is better. I know DC has Batman but i am taking a wait and see on the green lantern. GL is my fav DC character and i really want this movie to be awesome but i am taking the ait and see approach. Many of the DC movies are weak (Jonah Hex). But i have faith in GL beacuse he is a cosmic hero. We have seen plenty of the street level super heroes like batman and spiderman and even iron man. GL is HUGE. Like galactic huge so i am really crossing my fingers for this one.
