Secret Window tops rental charts

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Video sales and rentals were bad and badder this week, with Dimension/Buena Vista Home Entertainment's R-rated Bad Santa and its unrated version ho-ho-hoing all the way up the charts.

Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment's Johnny Depp thriller Secret Window, based on a novel by Stephen King, topped the ribald comedy, though, on Video Store magazine's list of top rental titles for the week ending June 27.

As is often the case, the unrated Badder Santa handily beat out the theatrically released version. The uncut version of the film, starring Billy Bob Thornton as a lowlife and small-time crook who poses as a department store Santa in order to steal from the store, had weekly rental revenue of $11.9 million. Its R-rated version scored $2.1 million.
