Peter Berg (Hancock) produces and directs Battleship, an epic-scaled action-adventure that unfolds across the seas, in the skies and over land as our planet fights for survival against a superior force. Inspired by Hasbro's classic naval combat game, Battleship stars Taylor Kitsch as Lt. Alex Hopper, a Naval officer assigned to the USS John Paul Jones; Brooklyn Decker as Sam Shane, a physical therapist and Hopper's fiancee; Alexander Skarsgård as Hopper's older brother, Stone, Commanding Officer of the USS Sampson; Rihanna as Petty Officer Raikes, Hopper's crewmate and a weapons specialist on the USS John Paul Jones; and international superstar Liam Neeson as Hopper and Stone's superior (and Sam's father), Admiral Shane.
Battleship was released May 18th, 2012 and stars Taylor Kitsch, Alexander Skarsgård, Rihanna, Brooklyn Decker, Tadanobu Asano, Hamish Linklater, Liam Neeson, Peter MacNicol. The film is directed by Peter Berg.

I liked this trailer a little more then i liked the preivious trailer for this movie. It might be a good movie but to be sure, i guess we shall wait and see. I like that Liam Neeson is in this movie, but i am not impressed with the fact at all that Rihanna is in this movie. She is a singer, not an actress.

The ONLY thing bad about this movie thus far is its named after a boardgame that, at first glance, it has no relation or similarities to (I could be wrong). I think you guys aren;'t giving it a chance because of that.
If this movie was named anything BUT "Bttleship", I think it would fair better with the audience.

This is 1 of those movies that DOES NOT! need a sequel. Same sh*t with 2012, ID4 or any more like that, there are movies that end up getting more films in which they dont even need, transformers, didnt need1 either, i kinda felt like part2 came to soon and when it did it was a failed same for paRT3. but like you said, if money piles up on their desk they will give us another sequel.

No, it'll more like be that this movie will actually have a sequel, i highly doubt it'll be remade. But, it'll have a sequel if it is decided by the studio, that a sequel is to be made which would be if they liked how much it has made, once it has been released to theaters and if it is good as well.

This movie will have a good opening weekend, then go almost straight to Blu-ray, and last slip into Oblivion (to be remade in a few years by someone who thinks they can do better) EPIC FAIL!

The only other idea on such movie could b a ship getting hijacked and then having the good guys take on the other ship which was hijacked!
kinda like under siege, but people will know that , that would have been a copy cat,
I really dont care if this movbie follows the board game or not, it looks pretty good to stand on its own to feet,

Clue,
Jumanji
Ouija
Rock'em Sock'em Robots Game reminds me of that new movie "reel steel"
Hell even MONOPOLY could work among others.
Now as far as battleship goes Yes the movie and game tell a diff story,
Now they cant make this happen, there would b no point on having 2 ships fight eachother til 1 sinks!, So instead they have ships take on sumthing else as teams,
Thats where the aliens come in.

@jasonkat Not when the first thing on your mind is the board game. Which by the way was the reason why this movie was made in the first place. As for the movie as a whole, well duh, Imma leave my brain at the door for sure watching this.

@moviegeek -- Really? You make it sound as if we saw two totally different trailers. How in any way was the editing horrible? It was coherent enough to make sense and keep the intensity. The slow-mo was as good as any other slow-mo of its' kind, especially when you keep 'Transformers' in-mind. If you like 'Transformers', I don't see how you can't like this trailer. It reeks of 'Transformers'.

I think the title fits this perfect, ,since its not on land other wise battlefield would b another good name for it. It doesnt have to match the boardgame keys . admit it, this looks epic. battle La was a great film, this would be considered part2 in my book.

If you dont open up ur mind when watching movies like these, ur not gonna enjoy them. you really think transformers was great? ha!, not really. but when people make it a popcorn flick. a summer bash, it actually turns out great, even if you spotted a few mistakes

WOW!! It does look wicked! Kept me awake & glued to the screen ....but this has nothing to do with the game whatsoever!!!
The "only" two reason to see "Battleship" is Liam of course....and Rihanna 's 'bad' acting talent debut!.....
...It looks like a mash-up of "The Abyss meets "Transformers".!

I admit, the trailer does look awesome and I hope it'll be better than at least TF2 and TF3.
That being said, I'm not a fan of the board game but this is the saddest attempt to sell a movie based on it's brand name. This is gonna be a hit and unfortunately we'll start seeing dozens of big-budget action movies "based on" brands that have nothing to do with it, just for an easy cash-in on a big name.
For example, a "Monopoly" movie with aliens and dinosaurs; an "Uno" movie with red, blue, green and yellow fighting robots... You get the idea, and deep inside you know you see this coming.
Hollywood, if you're reading this, it's never too late to change the title. Even if you named this "Underwater Alien Robots" it'll still be more appealing than saying it's based off "Battleship", which it clearly isn't.
