Season of the Witch No Longer Set for a March Release Date

Season of the Witch drops out of March
LionsGate has announced a change to its release schedule, moving the Nicolas Cage supernatural thriller Season of the Witch away from its original March 19th start date. At this time, the film has not been given a new slot on their release calendar. Reasons for the move were quite obvious, as March 19th has become a crowded weekend with such anticipated films as the musical biopic The Runaways, the adaptation of Jeff Kinney's Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Universal's Repo Men, and the Jennifer Aniston action comedy The Bounty Hunter all vying for that top spot at the box office.

In other scheduling news, Columbia Pictures has finally announced a release date for its upcoming big screen adaptation of the hit TV show 21 Jump Street. Starring Jonah Hill and directed by Ruben Fleischer, this action heavy comedy will make its way into theaters during the summer of 2011. For now, it is staking a claim in the August 5th weekend. But that could very well change at any time leading up to that release date.

We will keep you updated as a new release date for director Dominic Sena's Season of the Witch, which also stars Ron Perlman, Stephen Campbell Moore, Robert Sheehan, Claire Foy, Ulrich Thomsen, Stephen Graham, and Christopher Lee, is announced.

Season of the Witch was released January 7th, 2011 and stars Nicolas Cage, Ron Perlman, Stephen Campbell Moore, Stephen Graham, Ulrich Thomsen, Claire Foy, Robert Sheehan, Christopher Lee. The film is directed by Dominic Sena.

21 Jump Street was released March 16th, 2012 and stars Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, Brie Larson, Dave Franco, Rob Riggle, DeRay Davis, Ice Cube, Dax Flame. The film is directed by Phil Lord, Chris Miller.

Smart move by them. There are just too many movies that are going to cancel each other out that weekend. Hopefully this will give them more time to advertise it.

As for 21 Jump Street, I am glad Ruben Fleischer(Zombieland) is directing.

Compared to the expected lineup as listed, I'd say Season of the Witch has a better chance being number one than any of those heaps of trash. Are they kidding?

I cant believe they actually cast Nicolas Cage in this movie, talk about the worst casting decision in history! I mean have you ever seen the guy run? He looks like he's got a log up his ass... uncoordinated bastard! why wouldn't they cast someone (anyone) other than him?
I've got to admit, the cinematography looks pretty damn good in this film, directing looks like it could be pretty decent and well, you've already heard what I have to say about casting.
I guess time will tell if it's any good.
