The North American version of the animated French film Persepolis has just picked up two voice actors. According to The Hollywood Reporter, both Sean Penn and Iggy Pop will be lending their pipes to the drama.

The film revolves around the life of a young girl struggling with her daily existence in Iran during and after the fall of the Shah. The story takes place in 1979.

The film is tentatively slated for domestic theatrical release at the end of 2007.

Persepolis was released December 25th, 2007 and stars Chiara Mastroianni, Catherine Deneuve, Danielle Darrieux, Simon Abkarian, Gabrielle Lopes Benites, François Jerosme, Sophie Arthuys, Jean-François Gallotte. The film is directed by Vincent Paronnaud, Marjane Satrapi.
