Scrubs in Talks for 9th Season
ABC has been in talks with the show's producers about ways to lower the license fee on Scrubs, and that star Zach Braff is now believed to be interested in returning for at least a portion of the episodes.
Insiders at the net said that ABC's sales team remains high on the show, which they said remains popular with advertisers because of its upscale demographics. Scrubs hasn't been a ratings hit on ABC, but it's performed decently enough -- and the Alphabet doesn't have many half-hours in its arsenal.
As for the cast, key players John C. McGinley, Donald Faison and Neil Flynn have all landed pilots this spring -- and no thesps are signed for Scrubs beyond this year. But some of those actors are likely to return, as least on a recurring basis.
Plus the show introduced a new horde of interns this year, who have also starred in a series of webisodes at ABC.com ("Scrubs: Interns"). Those actors include Sonal Shah, Eliza Coupe, Betsy Beutler and Todd Bosley (another new intern was played by Aziz Ansari, who now stars on Parks and Recreation).
Also still in play on the laffer side: "Samantha Who."

I love Scrubs, though it seems to be growing stale. Braff is great, but he and Faison's characters aren't getting as much of their shtick-time together as they used to. I think revamping the show with new characters might be a great idea, BUT with a couple conditions: (1) u GOTTA bring back Aziz (i don't think it would work without him - he has what it takes to carry a show), (2) old characters have reasons to be back in recurring roles (not like what they're doing with kelso this season), (3) keep some mainstays like Ted (he's awesome), the Todd and maybe Janitor (these mainstays would have to stay supporting characters though, not elevated to headliners), (4) keep the quarkiness, (5) don't add a jd and turk, part 2, type of relationship, (6) get them out of Sacred Heart a little more (not too much, but some).
i look forward to hearing what they decide to do.

Yeah, I hate Zach Braff with such a passion. He is the only one that isn't funny on that show

I see Neil Flynn perform with his improv team (that also has David Koechner) every Saturday in Hollywood. Super-cool guy, as is Koechner. Will be interesting to see what happens with this, and Flynn's new pilot.
