MTV is planning to develop a new TV series based on director Wes Craven's Scream series.

Ex-MTV executives Tony DiSanto and Liz Gateley are leading the project, and they are currently looking for someone to write the series. It isn't clear if Scream writer Kevin Williamson and director Wes Craven will be involved in the potential series.

The horror franchise grossed more than $500 million in the global market, with the most recent installment, Scream 4, bringing in $97 million worldwide.

This project is still in early development.

Scream was released December 20th, 1996 and stars Drew Barrymore, Kevin Patrick Walls, David Booth, Carla Hatley, Neve Campbell, Skeet Ulrich, Lawrence Hecht, Courteney Cox. The film is directed by Wes Craven.

When the last Scream movie was being made, I said the same thing that I will say about this; Why are they continuing to try to make this donkey of a franchise into a champion stallion? Just put it down already. The movies weren't that good at all. I mean really cancel this now, because it will get canceled anyway after the first week.

this is a weird idea to begin with considering if they're gonna use one killer each episode or for each season
they will need proper motivation each time
this better not get too hip or stylized or Im not watching it

Scream jumped the shark anyway. The first two were very good however the last two movies have been awful. Leaving the franchise alone and bury it.

Terrible Idea, MTV continues to take old movies, and just want to make them into shows... sappy teen dramas. The point of the Scream films was to laugh at stuff like this! Randy is turning in his grave.

haven't seen the new film yet, but a TV series, that's just lame. Friday the 13th TV show was horrible. I refuse to watch converted horror TV shows that hurts film franchises.

MTV is crap. I stopped watching it in the 80's. I never cared for the Scream franchise. I'm only commenting on this thread because I am amused at how much crap MTV throws out there and still manages to stay on the air.

Yeah, because we all know MTV will treat it dignity and respect. Oh wait, they will probably try to downgrade it to a dark romantic show where a teenage girl falls in love with Ghostface. I don't know really, but we all know they're going to f*ck it up.
