Director Tom Hooper has narrowed down his candidates to play Eponine in Les Miserables to Scarlett Johansson, Evan Rachel Wood, Glee star Lea Michele, and country singer Taylor Swift.

All four have auditioned for the role, and it is said that Lea Michele, "knocked it out of the park." Here's what an insider had to say about Scarlett Johansson and Evan Rachel Wood.

"Scarlett brings acting ability, and she can really sing. Evan Rachel Wood brings her indie cred."

Taylor Swift recently appeared in Valentine's Day and voices Audrey in The Lorax. It isn't known when a decision will be made on who will play Eponine.

Tom Hooper is directing Les Miserables from a screenplay by William Nicholson, which is adapted from the Victor Hugo novel. It isn't known when production will begin.

Les Miserables comes to theaters December 7th, 2012 and stars Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Sacha Baron Cohen, Helena Bonham Carter, Eddie Redmayne, Samantha Barks. The film is directed by Tom Hooper.

For those of you who haven't heard Wood sing, go watch Across The Universe. The movie is a Musical... So yeah, she can sing. Much rather have her get the part than ScarJo, who can't act OR sing.

@bawnian-dexeus Yeah I got to admit I listen to some of her songs too, but seeing her try to act (not sing) along side Jackman and Crowe would be occured to see, at least for me.

@ejk1 Agreed, but I have to say the one time I saw Swift try to act it was on SNL, and it was terrible.

@m2 When it coms to acting, hell no. Singing on the other hand, I wouldn't mind. She has a couple of good songs I listen too.

@shuabert "I've never heard of Wood singing, but that certainly doesn't mean she can't." Exactly, but that same thing can be said about Swift and acting. As far as Michelle, if she was the best, then give her the role. If she wasn't, then she shouldn't get it. SImple as that.

@ejk1 Well ScarJo has released two albums, so I can see where they're going with her. I've never heard of Wood singing, but that certainly doesn't mean she can't. Lea Michelle is f*cking fantastic, though. She should be the first name on your list if you're looking to do a musical today.

I'm mostly just excited that Hugh Jackman is in this movie.

@shuabert Since they're looking for someone with a singing voice. Besides, since when is Scarlett J. or Evan R. known for singing?

Whoever does the best job must get the role. Don't give it to someone because she has "indy cred" or is a bigger name. The role should go tot he one who wins the competition for the role.
