Saw Franchise Set to Return for 8th Installment

Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton, writers of Saw IV-Saw VI are reportedly coming back for two more installments, which would lead the popular horror franchise all the way up to number eight. This news was disclosed in a recent Variety article announcing the writing duo's work on the new horror series Clive Barker's Hotel.

As usual, the continuing plot and storyline for all Saw sequels is being kept tightly under wraps. What is known is that Saw VII will be in 3D. Does that mean Saw VIII will be as well? I guess that depends on how popular the first 3D installment is.

Saw VII will haunt up theater screens on October 23rd of this year, with Saw VII hitting in 2010 and Saw VIII arriving in 2011. How long will this madness continue to go on? As long as these films keep making money. You can bet on that.

Saw VI was released October 23rd, 2009 and stars Tobin Bell, Costas Mandylor, Mark Rolston, Betsy Russell, Shawnee Smith, Peter Outerbridge, Athena Karkanis, Samantha Lemole. The film is directed by Kevin Greutert.

Saw 3D was released October 29th, 2010 and stars Tobin Bell, Costas Mandylor, Gina Holden, Betsy Russell, Tanedra Howard, Johnny Yong Bosch, Shauna MacDonald, Franky G. The film is directed by Kevin Greutert.

They should have stopped after the first one. There is not a single iota of decent filmmaking in this franchise.

clinton, you really think Lionsgate gives a flying f*ck whether you see it or not. They already have a huge audience as it is. And Diaigma, my apologies, i just get upset when i hear bad things about my new favorite horror franchise.

    LOL. Newkill.

Whenever I do this " :P " It means that I'm kidding around. Jeesh. Besides, you trash on threads concerning movies that you don't care to see or want to hear about. You don't see me complaining ;)

Okay, I love the franchise but 8 is enough they need to wrap it up now. I wonder if the writers thought up something cool to add to the storyline and the studio loves it cause most studios don't like doing that many sequels so in a way I'm kinda impressed with Lionsgate.

3D? Lol why would it be in 3D it's not like they have special effects or scary pop out out you type of horror so that's kinda unnecessary

Oh, so this ISN'T a joke! What the hell happens after Jigsaw's dead? Does he come back to life in the body of the Jigsaw doll, a la "Child's Play?"

I'd have to say that "SAW II" was my favorite, with "SAW V" in a close second.

Messenger, I agree Saw IV is great. I love the fact how they show some hints about maybe dr. gordon still being alive.

I still stand by that I think Saw IV is the best one (story wise) a lot of back story and emotional connection to Jigsaw. If the sequals are good and RELEVANT to the rest and they dont force it Im down for some more.

I absolutely love this series, but I think it's starting to get a little out of hand. As long as the movies continue to be as good as they have been, though, then I will not complain much.
