True Blood star Sam Trammell has joined the cast of Fox's adaptation The Fault in Our Stars. We first reported on the project back in March when Shailene Woodley signed on for the female lead.

The story is adapted from Josh Green's novel that centers on Hazel Green Lancaster (Shailene Woodley), a teenager stricken with cancer who falls in love with Augustus (Ansel Elgort), a young man from her support group. Sam Trammell is playing Hazel's father in the drama, alongside Laura Dern as the girl's mother. Nat Wolff co-stars as Augustus' best friend, Isaac.
Josh Boone (Stuck in Love) is directing from an adapted screenplay by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber ((500) Days of Summer, The Spectacular Now). Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen are producing through their Temple Hill Entertainment company, with shooting scheduled to begin this month in Pittsburgh.
Aside from his role as Sam Merlotte on HBO's True Blood, Sam Trammell recently starred in The Details and Crazy Kind of Love.
The Fault in Our Stars comes to theaters June 6th, 2014 and stars Shailene Woodley, Ansel Elgort, Willem Dafoe, Nat Wolff, Laura Dern, Sam Trammell, Mike Birbiglia, Emily Peachey. The film is directed by Josh Boone.
