Raimi first confirmed that, once the WGA strike is over, he will be working with a writer to develop the screen-play for Spider-Man 4, although he did say that he was unsure whether he would direct or produce the film.
Raimi also said that he wanted to avoid influencing the writer of the new film too much - both in terms of continuity with his films, and with the choice of villains.
On the subject of maintaining continuity with his three Spider-Man movies, Raimi said the following. "We're hiring a writer to come up with his own take. Sony was willing to go either way, we'll just have to wait and see what the writer comes up with. I think anything's possible, though. I mean, there's been so many different versions, it doesn't have to follow the movies that we've made. I'd very much like to see Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man, so I have a personal interest in that, but certainly anything's possible. Spider-Man's such a big character in the comic books that he could endure a lot of different interpretations. You could start over or you could start with a different aspect of the story than I've focused on in the pictures I've made, we'll just have to wait and see what the writer comes up with."
Raimi also maintained silence on the question of who Spider-Man should battle in the fourth film. "I'm trying to not voice an opinion on that, because I'm trying to let the new writer proceed unmolested by me. I want somebody who's got a really fresh take on the material, and I think that's what's best. I'm afraid to prejudice the decision making process right now by forcing my own desires upon them."
Finally, Raimi said that for him, his favorite version of Spider-Man is that of a teenager being forced to deal with life as a superhero. "He's most powerful to me as an adolescent. The thing that Stan Lee created that was so special was that he was a very young character, and he's a kid trying to deal with these fantastic powers."

Is raimi even coming back to direct. By the sounds, he isn't. Carnage and Black Cat should be in the next one, like in my fantasy posters. Some of the symbiote could have survived the explosion at the end of spidey 3 and attaches itself to cassady(carnage) while he's killing somebody. The blood from his victim could seap into the symbiote making him red.

I agree with you Harry but i have two different selections...1. Have Rhino and Scorpion 2. Venom and Lizard 3. Vulture and Mysterio. Those comcinations i could see really working together nicely. Also dont forget about the Hobgoblin. he would be another cool character.

new director, thank god, they need some new personality to liven a next one up, their starting to slip, and i'm with eskate, leave it alone for a while, let the people forget about what a let down the 3rd Spidey installment was

ok, i dont care for Sam Raimi doing the Spidey movies anymore, so him not doing a forth is fine with me. personally, i would like to see either (1)Lizard and Carnage or (2)Carnage and Venom. sure Venom was quite a disapointment in part 3, but him with carnage, it could be quite a show. whoever makes this one better be sure about what he's doing. I'd hate to see another saga do wrong(like with X-men), even though Spidey 3 already ruined it.

As huge a part of the comics as Venom is, They should really bring him back. Otherwise it just seems like a waste and a huge let down!

yeah the only problem is, he cant be an adolescent forever. he has to grow up sometime. he did in the comics and he must in the movies or its gonna get old. and they should make SCORPION the next villain in the movie series and maybe an appearance by the LIZARD. or they could FULLY develop the VENOM character and make him the villain. no more of this "we have 8 villains in the movie" crap. thats what helped ruin the original batman movies. one, maybe two, villains per movie. or else you get SM3, wich i think we all agree kinda sucked. SCORPION!!!

I would really like to see a Lizard/Kraven the hunter storyline.
I agree with Joker don't rush a new Spider-man, they've got plenty of time to write it and make it. Fans are going to high on comic movies for long time
Please don't call it Spider-man 4, call it The Amazing Spider-Man.

I couldnt agree with you more. They are making a flash and green lantern movies. Im really excited to see them hit the screen. They need to go back and really take their time writing the next Spider-man and not rush it. Do not do a new series. It is way too Soon. Look at the Batman franchise. They made Batman Begins 8 years after Batman & Robin and everyone still thought it was a continuation from there. It would be very stupid to start over now.

My take on the whole thing is that its good that they are allowing a new writer to throw his 2 cents in to the franchise, but i still think that Sam did a great job. I do believe they did force some aspects of the movie on us, but what else can they do with a movie, i mean a story-line for a comic can go for months through 10-20 issues so trying to fit those 10-20 into one sitting is kinda hard...... and as for venom- i wish he had more screen time but what do u do.... and one more thing movie bad guy rule #1 No body he ain't dead

i think they should leave spiderman alone for a while and not rush to make another sequal. there are so many other possible franchises in comic books that id be more intersted in that another spidey. not to mention the 3rd one was horrible. i think its time for Raimi to move on to new projects.

Epsalon look let me explain what we saw. There were alot of really good things and alot of bad. There are a few scenes that got rushed and it made people mad. The biggest problem was that there was not enough venom. Period. The crying scene at the end was aa little bit strange. The focus from a boy making it in the world and struggling with his powers was gone. There wasnt that balance that was present in the other two. Then the butler. If my butler heard me going crazy saying Spiderman killed my father and he knew all along that he hadnt, i would have killed him. Venom's face peeling off i can understand why they did it, but it was un needed. And Harry helping Spiderman. After he became the Green Goblin, he never helped Spiderman in the comics. These movies have got to be walking hand in hand with the comic books. NOw the visuals in this film were top notch. The sound effects and all of that was great. But those things are what everyone here is talking about. Now i explained it in a mature way, i hope your response is the same.

Dr. Connors gets mutated into the Lizard. A few people see him on the streets and freak out. Hes an outcast but needs money to do more research to save himself.
Meanwhile, Spidey kicks the asses of some vandalizing rapist punks, the leader of which, runs away. He runs to the old construction site from the third film where this kid gets connected with the lingering symbiote and becomes Carnage. Lizard also hides there because of his shame. The 2 meet up and decide to rob the banks to get the money and to take down spidey.

You know what? F**k anyone and anything that believes Spider-Man 3 was a bad movie!!! Because you know what? I liked it! It was kicka**!!! IF there was anything wrong with it, it was that there wasn't enough Venom! THAT'S IT!!! Other than that, it was just as awesome as the first two, so screw you all who think it sucked, okay? And I have full faith in the next one, and for those of you who are b****ing about Venom's death, GROW UP, YOU LOSERS!!! So what if he's f**king dead?! We still have Carnage and Toxin to look forward to, now don't we?! So quit your belly-aching, you babies!!!

The end of Spiderman 3 where Spidey and Sandman have a good cry and Peter utters a teary "I forgive you" is by far the single worst scene in any superhero movie to date, and I've seen Batman & Robin. Please come forth new writter. I welcome you!
