Sam Raimi Unsure If He Will Return to Direct Spider-Man 4

MTV caught up Spider-Man 3 director Sam Raimi last week, who revealed that he is not sure whether he will return to direct a fourth film in the franchise.

"Sony Pictures is going to be making many more Spider-Man pictures," Raimi told MTV News. "I just don't know what [my] future holds yet." Of the already announced Spider-Man 4, he said "If I can't find the right story that would work for me and that I could tell really well, I would like someone else to tell that story ... But if it's a great story and Sony will bring me back to the screen, I would love to."

Raimi had previously pledged that he would not return to the franchise unless Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst would also be participating, and Maguire has hinted that he would not return for a another sequel and the compensation that Sony would have to pay for the three to return, may not make sense for the studio. Raima said "It would be really hard for me to make a movie without Tobey and Kirsten playing the two leads," he said. "I would seriously think about James [Franco] too, but he bit the dust in this last one."

When asked about what villains he would like to see in a 4th Spidey film he said "I would love to see Electro, Vulture, maybe the Sinister Six as a team."

Currently Spider-Man 3 has taken in $332 million at the boxoffice and placed #12 at last week's boxoffice ... where the film is now 15th place on the all-time list for U.S. box-office movie gross.

Spider-Man 3 was released May 4th, 2007 and stars Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, James Franco, Thomas Haden Church, Topher Grace, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rosemary Harris, J.K. Simmons. The film is directed by Sam Raimi.

    I wouldn't want to see a 4th installment without Sam directing. But i'd like to see a Raimi take on the hobbit. I reckon a great and grand idea would be for Peter Jackson & Sam Raimi to swap places in directing. Peter does Spiderman 4 and Sam does The Hobbit.

    So the question we ask is what is happening with Spiderman 4 due for a 2009 cinema release?

    Allegedly from the same source that told Venom would appear in the 3rd Spidey. Has gave a possible reliable and considered storyline, Venom ain't coming back.

    Here is what the source said. And if this is the official synopsis to the 4th spidey installment we forgive you for the 3rd installment. Juss don't mess this 1 up

    'At the moment there are many conisdering possibilities for the 4th Spiderman and many more to come. We have ideas for a next 3 or 4 so called sequels this including Spidey 4.
    With Spiderman 4, Venom will be dead, but the possibilty of bringing him back is low. But remembering the storyline of Spidey 3. Connors still has the symbiote sample, which will will be the basis to create Carnage once it blends with Peter Parker's blood before taking control of serial killer, Cleteus Kasady. Also Dr Connors will test his own experiment on himself very similar to what Norman done to become the green goblin. Thus while taking the experiment he will free the symbiote, which blends with parker's blood, this will explain to fans why Carnage is red instead of black.
    At the same time of freeing the symbiote, fans will probably guess that Connors is now the Lizard. Then Kraven the hunter hears of the Liazrd and wants to hunt him down because he sees it as a challenge. Not soon before the black cat is introduced and Spidey finds out who the Lizard really is.
    In this term Spidey must now protect a villian he cares about while taking on Kraven & Carnage.'

    So is this the official highly kept secrtet synopsis? Could be, who knows.

    By the way i'm writing a screenwrite at the moment entitled 'A Dream On Elm St.'
    My own version to the Nightmare prequel, which has been anticipated for more than 14yrs now.
    I'm interested in grabbing fans ideas for what they would like to see in the film. I've already finished the 1st draft, but i want fans to give ideas for the 2nd drafting of the script.

    Those trio played a major role in making this series very successful and it will be a shame not to see them all together again.

    And i hope he does make 'Sinister Six' as the next villains against spiderman

    If they do continue (with or without Tobey, Kirsten, or Sam), than they need to redeem themselves for the travesty that was Spiderman 3. I feel they should do a story dedicated to an encounter with Venom, and go in depth as to who, what, and why Venom is who he is, and acctually have the battle between Spidey and Venom mean something. On a side note, as far as Villians for Spiderman 4 (assuming they don't do another Venom movie), I'd like to see Lizard (and only Lizard).
