Sam Raimi to Helm World of Warcraft
Legendary Pictures and the game's publisher Blizzard Entertainment are currently getting the production off the ground. Warner Bros. will be co-financing and distributing the film.
Charles Roven (The Dark Knight) will also be on board as a producer.
Raimi will be overseeing Warcraft in its development stages. He plans to helm this project after he shoots Spider-Man 4 for Columbia Pictures.
The mythology behind Warcraft centers on the battle between the Horde and the Alliance. The game came out in 1994 and its fanbase has only grown. The most recent game Wrath of the Lich King sold over 2.8 million copies the first day it was released. Within the first month it sold over 4 million copies.
"At its core, Warcraft is a fantastic, action-packed story," Raimi stated.
Warcraft: The Rise of The Lich King was released in 2011. The film is directed by Sam Raimi.

RedGrave, great point. And I agree, it CAN be done. But do you remember Halo the movie? How about Gears of War the movie? No? That's because they wee never made. Partial reasons because both games were so epic and widely played that they didn't want to fail the fans with the scope, and in their universes it was just to hard to do which is why Director Neil Blonkamp went on with Producer Peter Jackson to make District 9, and why Len Wiseman moved from GOW onto just now, Shrapnel.
So I know it can be done, but to the scale in which fans will be happy, that is the question. Either way, I await this film but I do not have the highest hopes.

Ok for all you f*cking retarded window licking f*gs who say that you can't make wow into a movie.. You should just go /life quit and end the suffering now so you can't multiply. There are hundreds of stories involving main characters. Not to mention so many internal events and stories that would be epic all on their own. YOU WILL go see this movie so don't even lie to yourself. Sam is a great director you have obviously seen the movies he had directed so it looks like he has done his job.
Also there is a wow movie already out that was done by just a simple fan base about the Ashbringer which was epic all on its own it was called Tales of the Past 3. So many stories that can be made up and that's the beauty of it. It's not limier at all. Sam and Charles KNOW they can't fail at this and they aren't going to there are too many people that play, to many fans in general.

some of you are asking how this might translate well as a movie, well didnt you ask yourselves the same question with transformers, or even harry potter, or *gasp* super mario brothers (okay that last one was joke). i think what i am worried about most is raimi's directing. he is good at action, humor, darkness, camp, and dramatic elements, but can he as a director pull this off. Oh and BTW no offense, but can we give it a rest mentioning spiderman 4 everytime Raimi's brought up for the next two years. we all get it spiderman 3 sucked balls, spiderman 4,5,6, and 7 are going to suck balls too, so lets move on from the spidey drama, cant we find something to pick on... ooooh heres an idea how about steven segal, or maybe sanjina (rhymes with you know what) from american idol... mmm let the bashing begin.. ding, ding.
