Sam Raimi could direct Oz: The Great and Powerful
We reported back in April that a high-profile star and director were circling a new film that offers a unique look at a classic character and now it seems a different director has been offered the job. Vulture is reporting that director Sam Raimi has been offered to direct Oz: The Great and Powerful.

Our earlier report indicated that Sam Mendes was circling the project and Adam Shankman was also mentioned as a possible candidate to direct the film as well. Now it seems Disney has offered the job to Sam Raimi, although it wasn't clear as of yet if he will accept the job or not. The earlier story also indicated that Robert Downey Jr. was in talks to play the Wizard, but it wasn't clear if he was still involved with the film at this time.

We'll be sure to keep you posted on any further details surrounding Oz: The Great and Powerful, including whether or not Sam Raimi will be directing the film, as soon as we have more information.

Oz: The Great and Powerful was released March 8th, 2013 and stars James Franco, Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz, Michelle Williams, Zach Braff, Bill Cobbs, Joey King, Tony Cox. The film is directed by Sam Raimi.

I was also thinking of that Moviedude21.I can see Tim Burton doing this instead of Sam, though I have huge respect for the man, it just not his kind of "thing". For Tim, His creativeness is perfect for a movie like this. And he can bring along his man Johnny Depp for this movie.

As much as I'm a fan of his I don't think it would be wise for him to do this film. Del Toro would be the perfect fit.

I agree. Do WoW, then think about this. I still wanted Del Toro to direct this after Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and after Dr. Strange. He could incorporate into this a world similar to that of Pans Labyrinth.
