We announced Raimi's involvement in the film last July, but it wasn't clear when he would direct the film. Here's an excerpt from the site's article.
Well, I chatted with someone that knows - and I feel confident in saying that the next film we'll see from Raimi is going to be Warcraft... which after Avatar, the concept of world building that particular universe could be astonishing - especially in 3D - especially after what Cameron just unleashed upon the globe. World creating Science Fiction & Fantasy... done by visionary filmmakers ... well, it is a premium. We got The Hobbit coming, looks like an Avatar 2... but the word I hear is that today - the phone lines were burning between a certain legendary locale and Raimi's folks about firing up the furnaces to forge the weapons of war.
The "legendary locale" they're referring to could mean Legendary Pictures, which is on board producing the Warcraft film.
We'll be sure to keep you posted on any and all developments with Raimi's Warcraft|+|Warcraft: Rise of the Lich King} film as soon as we have more information.
Warcraft: The Rise of The Lich King was released in 2011. The film is directed by Sam Raimi.
Spider-man 4 is in development .

To answer you comrade, I have never watched either Full Metal Jacket or Apocalypse Now. They never appealed to me. I know they are "classics", but I don't want to watch them. I'm just saying, if you visualize World of Warcraft on film, what do you see lol? I see LotRs style of characters, which is fine, it just reminds me of LotRs.

Illuminati
never played the game, being the most popular role-playing game it's no surprize a film is coming out. It might work as a vast fantasy film. But as far as largescale, grandiose productions are concerned, Rami does NOT come to mind...
JC on the other hand knows how to handle GRAND SCALE, and fresh of the success of AVATAR, they'll give him anything he wants...

I tried playing it once, some idiot with a much higher level skilled killed my character which really annoyed me.
Since then I won't play it since creeps like that like to kill undeveloped characters. Those people need to be band from it but I'll watch the film when it comes out.
Sam will have his family involved since they do everything together, which in my case and what I think is a real no. It'll be like Hercules and Xena: Warrior Princes, I bet my bottom dollar on that.
The Sword of Truth TV series has the same feel as well, but the Raimi brothers will make it as good as they can.
My best guest is we'll be seeing certain actors from the three series. They all work together and I bet the lead character will be Richard from TSOT, I won't mind it but at this stage Sam and his staff and crew are so predictable.

I've never played the game so I can't say this excites me much.

Um, Chad...I don't think it's technically a ripoff if you are using the same cinematic methods as a another film...is Full Metal Jacket a rip-off of Apocalypse Now because they both use cameras and authentic uniforms?

They don't have much choice, they will have to either rip off of Lord of the Rings with real people and people in fancy suits and makeup, OR, do it CGI and rip off Avatar in that sense. If they do both, it'd be rad lol.

This movie will be huge when it's released, it might be bigger than Tranformers in hype, whether you're a fan or not, this thing is well known.

The Narrator: The Better Man
I liked his Spider man 1 and 2 and Spidey 3 wasn't his fault. And who hates quick and the dead?
Either way, I was skeptical at first about this (and him being attached to it) but I guess he can do it. Definitely will make a killing at the BO.

Good for him. I've never played World of Warcraft, so my anticipation could go either way at this point. I need to hear/see more before I decide to skip around the room, or talk sh*t. We'll see...

Yes, sounds great! Hope he'll not ruin this wonderful game along the way. Cause I like this game, I like all of Blizzard's games. I like the character Lich, one of my favorites! My poll here is heard, lol. I always dreamed of a Blizzard game story be on the big screen! I am happy, finally! Just afraid what may come out of this one. Hope this be realistic, not fan flick, not animation (like the goat) and not a low budget but a $100M at least!

I can see this being sweet. I'm sure Raimi will be able to mold a great story out of the Warcraft mythology seeing as there really isn't anything to tie him down in such an open ended world.

I have faith Raimi will make a great movie out of this.

This'd better be completely tongue in cheek.

While I don't play WoW, I can see it making a cool movie because there's just a universe with no real story to follow, especially in Raimi's hands who will amp up the camp factor of stuff like the Undead. I'm there.

Well, we knew he had already signed on so this isn't surprising. Box office gold, probably.
