Sony Pictures is moving forward with a sequel to their 2010 hit Salt, hiring Becky Johnston (The Prince of Tides, Seven Years In Tibet) to write the screenplay for Salt 2.

We reported last june that Salt writer Kurt Wimmer was hired to pen a follow-up. However, star Angelina Jolie wasn't pleased with the direction of that script, which lead to Becky Johnston coming on board. No story details have been revealed.

Salt starred Angelina Jolie as Evelyn Salt, a CIA spy who is accused of being a Russian double-agent. The action-thriller, directed by Phillip Noyce, grossed $295 million worldwide in 2010. The director revealed in December 2010 that he was not interested in making a sequel.

Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Sunil Perkash are producing. No production schedule has been released.

Salt 2 is in development .

This is taking the piss, aren't you 3 years late for this. Such a good action movie(apart from seeing Angelina's boney legs), should had a good trilogy behind it, kinda like Bourne.

Salt was well below an average movie. Doesn't deserve a sequel at all.
