Sally Hawkins Joins We Want Sex

Sally Hawkins has parlayed her critical success for some sex...ual discrimination lawsuit in her next project. According to Variety, Hawkins (Happy-Go-Lucky) has joined the cast of We Want Sex.

The film centers on the 1968 Ford Dangenham plant strike, where 850 female workers walked off the job due to sexual discrimination in their job evalutions. The walk-off was a landmark event for women's rights and helped secure equal pay for women in the workplace. The title refers to a sign one woman carried during a protest that was supposed to read "We Want Sex Equality," although they didn't realize until later that the "Equality" was missing.

Bill Ivory wrote the film and Simon Curtis is directing. The film will begin pre-production in March with a plan to go before cameras in June.
