Sacha Baron Cohen is up for The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is a film that has been languishing in development for quite some time but now it seems that Fox could be moving forward with a new lead actor. Pajiba is reporting that Fox has an offer out to actor Sacha Baron Cohen to star as the title character in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

Previously, Mike Myers had been attached to star in the film and, while the site believes that Myers is off the project, it isn't officially known whether or not he is still attached. Screenwriter Peter Morgan is the latest writer attached to the film and the new version features the title character as a shy owner of a retail mega-store who secretly harbors the desire to become a hero. The previous version featured Mitty as a fiction writer.

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty comes to theaters December 25th, 2013 and stars Ben Stiller, Kristen Wiig, Patton Oswalt, Shirley MacLaine, Adam Scott, Sean Penn. The film is directed by Ben Stiller.
