Ryan Reynolds Torn Between Deadpool and R.I.P.D.

Ryan Reynolds' is torn between Deadpool and R.I.P.D.
Ryan Reynolds has an increasingly busy production slate. Because of this, the actor has revealed to io9 that he will now have to decide between shooting Deadpool or R.I.P.D.

No matter which project he chooses, we'll have to wait awhile for it. The shoot will fall behind Ryan Reynolds' next two scheduled acting jobs on The Change-Up, which also stars Jason Bateman and Olivia Wilde, and Safe House, which he will then immediately move into, starring opposite Denzel Washington. Reynolds stated that either Deadpool or R.I.P.D. could come after those two movies wrap, but that he (likely) won't be able to do both. Here's an excerpt from the site's article:

People sort of ask this question, like I have any say in the matter. They're both movies I'm interested in, they're both movies that are in fast-track development. But I never say I'm doing a movie until I break for lunch the first day. Because it's such a crapshoot, this industry. Everything's so fickle and so contingent on so many factors, aside from just an actor. And because it has an actor, and because these films have interested directors, it's obviously likely that they'll both get made. But I think it would be more likely that only one of them gets made with me.

We'll be sure to keep you posted with any further news on Deadpool or R.I.P.D. as soon as it is made available. You can also Click Here! to read what Ryan Reynolds recently had to say about the Deadpool project.

Deadpool is in development and stars Ryan Reynolds.

R.I.P.D. comes to theaters June 28th, 2013 and stars Ryan Reynolds, Jeff Bridges, Kevin Bacon, Stephanie Szostak, Mary-Louise Parker, Marisa Miller, James Hong, Robert Knepper. The film is directed by Robert Schwentke.

@Dethklokx7 I agree. He was the best thing about that movie and he was in it what, 10 minutes at the beginning? The story line for R.I.P.D. seems like it could be good but I want him to play Deadpool.

Ryan did not really get the chance to truly be deadpool so why are people saying that he did? He had maybe ONE good scene then it all went to hell at the end(not his fault though). Give the merc a movie he deserves!

@Dave, I am a huge Green Lantern fan, and a huge Deadpool fan. Hell, the two are in my top 5 comic characters of all time. True, GL has a bigger and more dedicated fan base, not to mention astounding mythos. But Wade Wilson is definitely no borefest. In fact he has constantly been (character wise) one of the best written characters ever, if not for his ever changing personality and costume.

If you're not a DP fan, I wouldn't expect you to understand, but the Deadpool in Origins was nothing close to The Merc With a Mouth. The 5 minutes we see of Ryan channeling Deadpool is overshadowed by the crap fest that was "Weapon X". It was ridiculous and a huge slap in the face to fans. Reynolds has to make it up to the fans by starring in the feature film, which will hopefully show audiences how creative and fun a character like DP really is.

Your right about Green Lantern having a greater Legacy, but still.. In terms of comic book characters, Ryan Reynolds could not have been cast more perfectly than Deadpool. Besides, its time the real Deadpool came out to the main stream consciousness.

@B3njamin the green lantern deserves a movie more then deadpool it doesnt matter about how bad ass the character has to be. Its about their legacy and green lantern is more famous. And green lantern has a better director and villains. I'm not saying deadpool is bad, its just that he's not even close to green lantern

@Daveactor7 I think your balls just fell off with that last comment.. In no way is Green Lantern the space cop more bad ass than the hard R Merc that is Deadpool

Also the best comic character for Reynolds is Green lantern Hal Jordan. Green lantern is far more intriguing and more awesome then deadpool

They never adapt comic books to the fullest extent of the story, so R.I.P.D would be better. Deadpool had his chance on screen and he wasnt interesting at all.

  16. The Narrator: The Better Man

@Daveactor, R.I.P.D. is an interesting concept, but the comic was definitely not all that. So based off of source material, I would say Deadpool is far more viable than R.I.P.D., unless they adapt the series in a mature fashion and fill it with dark humor.

I agree with Charles DeMar. I think as soon as he won the role of GL, Reynolds knew his days as Deadpool would be over. He said all the right things about wanting to do the character again, but as time has gone on he has taken roles in other, more developed projects. Although I'd like to see him as Deadpool, I think he's been edging his way out of that role for some time now.

  20. Dr.Carter

As much as I would like to see him in Deadpool, I think Fox dropped the ball. Deadpool should have been in production. And if they cant get Ryan then go ahead with Sean William Scott he would also make a good Deadpool.

Lol movies are about a good story that bind it together. Deadpool is a comic book and it should stay it. Besides we've seen him already on screen as deadpool so he should give R.I.P.D a shot
