Ryan Reynolds is teaming up with director Jon Favreau for the high-speed drama Battle for Bonneville. New Regency is in final negotiations to acquire the project.

Dan Gilroy (Real Steel, The Bourne Legacy) wrote the screenplay based on the true story of half-brothers Art Arfons and Walt Afrons. The duo used to be fierce rivals on the race track, before teaming up to break the land speed record three times, using a jet-powered race car.

Ryan Reynolds and Jon Favreau will also produce alongside Mark Ciardi, Gordon Gray, Jonathon Komack Martin, and Jennifer Fox.

It is said that Jon Favreau hopes to direct this right after production wraps on his musical adapataion Jersey Boys.
