Rome Movie Finally Moving Forward

Rome finally gets the big screen treatment!
Rome finally gets the big screen treatment!
When we talked to Ray Stevenson last year about HBO's hit series Rome getting the big screen treatment, the actor confirmed that Bruno Heller, the writer and director of the show, and Bill MacDonald were currently "in talks" to bring the series to feature film. Well, here we are a year later and it seems that Entertainment Weekly has some new details about the film finally moving forward.

Fans of HBO's critically-beloved (but short-lived) series Rome may not have seen the last of Vorenus and Pullo. Multiple sources have confirmed to EW that a big-screen sequel to the sword-and-sandals series is well underway. Rome creator/executive Bruno Heller - who went on to create CBS's hit The Mentalist - has finished a script for Morning Light Productions, which financed the development and will produce the film. Series stars Kevin McKidd (Lucius Vorenus) and Ray Stevenson (Titus Pullo) will likely sign onto the movie, which picks up in Germany four years after the series ended. The next step for Morning Light is to find a director and a studio, since HBO Films won't be involved.

Rome the series aired from 2005-07 and took place during Ancient Rome, beginning with Caesar's invasion of Gaul and continuing with the rise of the first Emperor Augustus. The series centered on soldiers Pullo and Vorenus, who appeared to die at the end of the series.

Well since Octavian Augustus Caesar is for the most part considered the best leader of the Roman empire, not to mention the first actual emperor, then I would imagine they are going to touch on that. It would be nice if they kept the story going even further. You will probably be introduced to Tiberius and possibly more. Don't know how far they would take it. I just hope it becomes successful and they make more. I thought Vorenus died though. Maybe he just got really sick. Also, Pullo's son will probably be a significant part of the story.

Agreed, I think they'll bring Vorenus back, and just say that they had to lie about his death.

@Canucklehead-I saw the same ending as everyone else. Pullo SAID Vorenus had died but did ANYONE see his dead body? Pullo could of said that Vorenus was dead to let his friend live in peace w/ his children.
