"What we want to do in the next - it's actually two movies - we want to do a bigger arc," he explained. "Independence Day was always like the king who leads his troops into battle against an evil force, and that stays like that."
While there is no script for the projects as of yet, as it's still in the idea phase, Emmerich did suggest a title.

Other than Stargate, haven't been really impressed with Emmerich films. Especially Godzilla. Haven't seen 2012 but it's been some people like it, some people don't from some of my conversations. I'll check it out either way.

I like his films, it just doesn't seem real to me. It might be why some people just don't like it. If it happens to us, it wouldn't be like that.

I hope you're not saying you want Roland Emmerich to do the Halo film.

I really don't think that they killed them all, and why would aliens come in one ship to destroy the human race.
Do it some justice and have an entire fleet of these nasty looking aliens.
Welcome to Earth- punch.
Now that's what I call encountering the third kind.
think big, think massive, think hug. By the way think epic for a change. I want these humans to suffer more and think Halo type film but not Halo.
Actually, ditch this and do a Halo film. It's virtually the something with different alien beings.

"'ID4-ever,' Part I and II maybe?"
lol, i don't know how emmerich could say that and keep a straight face.
This will be bad.

I liked that they kept the aliens a relative secret until the latter half of the film. It made all the Area 51 scenes much more anticipated and creepier when you see them in the tubes, and in action.

The Narrator: The Better Man
ONSTRA, ID4 was never a masterpiece. Maybe guilty cheesy pleasure wise, but that is definitely it. I am in as long as they do 3 things:
1. Have a good (change the title pleeasee)
2. Will SMith and Jeff Goldblum are back...
3. A lot and lot of destruction. Especially hand to hand stuff that we so wanted in ID4. I mean we see a massive fighting army but never see them do anything. So appease us there.
Thats my conditions and terms, and I am pretty sure they will never see them and never care. :)

I am really looking forward to see ID5, and 6. I mean when Id4 frist came out in 1996, when I saw the mane ship it looked liked it came from another bigger ship...

I'm glad it's keeping direction... I'm interested to see where it's going.

I agree with Builder, it could be good if it is set in the future a bit. But if it is just another round of aliens attacking earth then its just a repeat with updated special effects.

Hmmm. This could go a few ways success-wise. But idk what the plot would be. The mother ship and its underlings have been destroyed, and humans haven't the technology to pursue their origins across the stars.

Aficionado, think about it. Once we defeat the aliens for good that marks mankind's Independence Day, it's a writing no-brainer.

There are PLENTY of ideas in Hollywood but they are being smart by pumping out remakes and unneeded sequels and we as movies are dumb for going out and giving money to the machine. If the revenue declined from remakes and sequels they would find another type of movie to make.
It's called business and unfortunately that comes first in Hollywood. It's the question(s) on everyone's mind in HW, what can we sell, how can we sell it and how much can it make?

Well,it would only make sense to be perfectly honest.Hollywood really seems to be running out of ideas so they are making sequels to movies(such as ID4)which do not need sequels.Ergo, hollywood being destroyed in the movie would be kind of symbolic.

Hmmm, I could see them expanding the ID universe quite a bit. Set in the future, maybe 100 years after ID4. Start with a history flashback, the Chaos of the invasion and Humanity unifying against the fear of a common threat. People reverse engineering the Alien technology, and improving some areas, then the second alien wave arrives....and finds a world not taken over, but filled with REALLY pissed off (though overmatched) humans (throw in human regeneration tech, and an young, but old, Will Smith to kick some ass). Maybe do some fun things with orbital and moon defense bases. The aliens take a huge punch at the beginning, but they absorb it and come back with a vengeance! All hope seems lost, then the crazy Heroes of earth (the aforementioned Will Smith) have a plan to save us all then...BLACK SCREEN! Finish it in the next movie!

After ID4 there'll be ID5 and ID6. Then they'll go back with the prequels: ID1, ID2 and ID3.

The talks about a sequal to ID4 has been talked about for years. Roland is a heck of a action movie director when it comes to big explosions. The only way this could work since the aliens went planet to planet and now are all dead.... is take the movie to the future about 100 years and earth had formed one nation, and used the alien tech to do major space travel, and find a new alien race trying to make all others into slaves. I actually write time to time, and wrote something of the effect, but that idea would work.
