It seems that James Cameron's smashing box office success has influenced yet another film in the works. MTV Movies Blog recently spoke with 2012 director Roland Emmerich, who revealed that his upcoming Issac Asimov adaptation Foundation will be done in 3D, which was influenced by Avatar's success.

"The Avatar technology applies to Foundation," Emmerich said. "It has to be done all CG because I would not know how to shoot this thing in real."

Emmerich added that the film will use motion-capture technology along with 3D technology.

"Probably now all big movies have to be 3-D," he said. "It's not only the effect of 3-D, [Avatar has] just shown that if you do a movie in 3-D, you can ask for more money and that's the trick. I think now everybody who does bigger movies has to shoot them in 3-D. I think there's no way around it. I was on the set of Avatar and I saw how it worked and I really thought, 'That's the ultimate way of making movies.'"

Emmerich also said that the Foundation script, written by Robert Rodat, will be delivered on Friday. Click Here! to read the site's entire article.

Very Very complex story to do.....I'm very excited to see how they make it.

I have no idea how Foundation is going to work as a film, considering the first book tells five different stories in five different time periods. And, a trilogy? This is a seven-volume series.

Emmerich does not do subtlety very well.

he had his moments, i.e. stargate (and i liked universal soldier when i was a kid) but i havent liked any of his movies since, although i found 'the day after tomorrow" to be bearable, and havent seen 2012 yet.

at any rate he's got all the right tools, so he is bound to make a decent movie again someday.
    maybe this will be it.

or maybe it wont, who cares, its lunchtime, im gonna go get something to eat.

This bothers me a great deal as Asimovs FOUNDATION series are fairly complex and intelligent, where as Rolands movies are just loud and dumb.

Big fan of Asimov and the Foundation series. The only thing is that the full mythology of Foundation spans from the Empire series ove the Robot short stories and seguays into the Foundation series, though they could pull of a Foundation trilogy by itself. I only hope they don't get too ambitious. I'm now very excited.

That's what I mean.....this one is more capable of taking on 3D then that F#cked up Twilight thingy.

At least its being built from the bottom up in 3d, and not chugged on afterwards. Of course the effects will be astounding with Roland at the helm. And he is straight forward about 3D's possibilities. It of course is about money. Well said Roland. Given I disliked his 2012 with a passion after a while, but I liked TDAT and I liked the Patriot so I will give this a chance. Haven't read the book but sounds cool.

And Mime... you know your name means to copy? So accusing Roland Emmerich (who hasn't done anything really original save TDAT) of being a copy cat is funny. But I am sure there will be no Na'vi in it, don't worry.

Just because he wants to use the same technologies as Avatar doesn't mean sh*t. Jackson and Spielberg are already doing it with Tintin. It just means they think Cameron (or Weta actually) did a great job and they want to use their programming out of envy to make a better visual movie.

Another copy cat we have here..But hey, "Foundation" at least kind of related to "Avatar"; Sci-Fi, High-Tech sh*t. And also, it won't suck in 3D....
