"Dean Devlin and I are still set to make a sequel or sequels, likely because we've found some sort of idea and we approached FOX and FOX has not quite figured out how to incorporate Dean's and my deal, and Will's (Smith) deal. Will wants to do it in some sort of a package they can live with. So it's just been in negations now since forever, and naturally FOX says "Why don't you do it without Will Smith?" I said Will is essential for us, for this movie and actually for the audience too. And, so, it's in limbo and lately the studios are fighting. Like gross players, and Will is a gross player and is probably the only gross player right now who's worth his gross. So we'll see what happens. I would love to do it."

this is a little late, that would have been cool about 5 years ago when this was hot lol. what next a sequel to wild wild west? LOL. Independence day was great because it took place and was shown on the 4th, it brought in military people to see it just because of that wich is why it made money, great product placement. how they can repeat that is beyond me and independence day was at least a better movie than the terrible movie reboot of superman emp.

Vital...I'm cooler then the other side of the pillow dude, I just have no love for film rapist's like Devlin and Emmerich. That being said, Independence Day was a guilty pleasure...2012, insult to the intelligence.

I've all ways wanted to see a second film of this. Will and Jeff are a good mix, but Will is on a high in serious films.
He needs to finish some franchises then move on but he won't, he's an intelligent idiot.

Most likely we would just kick their asses out of our country though, before they got the first words out of their mouths.

Escapist: "You CAN'T sequelize it. Why? Ahem, well it is called INDEPENDENCE DAY. Day meaning single, only happening once. Making it happen twice wouldn't make it a day. It loses the meaning of ''Independence'' and ''Day''."
Escapist, if you think that that's what Independence Day means, it doesn't. Were you confused into thinking it's meant to be read "Independent Day", as in independent from any other days to be considered a day of independence?
An Independence Day can occur any time we defend our right to live without the control or influence of any entity or governing hierarchy, we feel is oppressing us or does not serve or look out for our best interest. If for some unbelievable reason, a foreign entity came here and tried to rule us, we would declare our independence from them.

I liked the movie a lot. It's one of the best sci movies around. I don't know how they could make this a sequel though, especially without the main characters, and then add the whole Independence Day dilemma (they attack on the same day again?) I don't get it lol.

Yahzee. I can make better? Why don't I? Because I have a job, an apartment and am writing to get there. The movie was fun, but not great. So no, we are note posting "hate comments".

This are just tipycal hate comments people post Chad. It's because being critic, and a bad one, it's easier than make something good. I mean if people can do better, why don't they do it instead of trashing everything? And in the end these same people are still watching this movies.

I'm still a fan of Independence Day. Nothing I would buy, but the movie just gets a bad rap,and it's even worse where you got a now tarnished director, Emmerich.

maybe the aliens have switched to apple macs and become immune to goldblum's conveniently universal computer virus.

At Marcus...damn...the way you started that plot I figured that turkey jumping at him would actually be hugged to his face for some hours, following which a hideous little mutated turkey would bust his chest open from the inside and grin at them all...awwwww.

I don't know where they can go with this, unless the aliens send another wave, more powerful than the last. Maybe different aliens, or the first aliens enemies.
Funny how this comes on the heels of District 9 and V. Expect about three different studios to put out their own versions of the same film.
And yeah, I agree. Bring back Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum and they need to bring back Adam Baldwin and give him a more substantial part, where he can kick ass and be a smart ass, like he did on Firefly.
Also, they should bring back Randy Quai... Oh, never mind.
What about Mary McDonn... oh, wait..
Hey, what about Harvey Fierste... Oh yeah..
Well there's always Brent Spinerrrrr.... Damn!

Movie plot of Independence Day 2:
Will Smith and his family are sitting around the table waiting for nice hot independence turkey. Will takes a fork to stab it in the turkey but sudenly dead turkey jumpes on his face. He pushes the turkey off his face with anger and sweet words like "What a F*ck!?" (and you are thinking I'm talking about zombie turkeys but you are WRONG!) He looks at the dead meat on the floor then he hears some big noise and everything starts shaking. His kid at the window says:"Daddy, look!" He runs in his backyard. He looks up into the clouds and he sees a bunch of alien starships flying around. He says: "Ou f*ck!...Not again! Damn!"
I hope that the actual story begins much better then this. :)

I think a even a good sequel can't reach the feeling of the first film, because when the aliens came out from the clouds and covered the whole sky the people didn't know anything about them. Some ppl were scared, some ppl were happy about the invasion (they celebrated on rooftops etc) because they thought E.T. came in peace, even the government tried to communicate with them. Nobody knew nothing about them. And of course there was the legend of the area 51 and the way how Goldblum found the solution to destroy the aliens... If they are going to make a sequel and a new alien ship appears near the Earth, ppl will know everything about their agressive intentions and they will do anything from the beginning of the movie to destroy them, wich will ends up as a 120 min sci-fi action film but not so story orientrated like the first one.
I hope I'm wrong and they come up with a really uniqeu story and of course with Smith and Goldblum on the board.
