While the filmmaker said that the delay would be between six to eight months, we haven't heard anything more since then.
Today, artist Michael Anthony Jackson has revealed four storyboard images that he created for this adaptation of Daniel H. Wilson's novel, featuring the nefarious "mechwolves" hunting down a group of human survivors, after a worldwide robot uprising. How this epic scene would (or will?) come to life in the future is anybody's guess, as it hasn't been made clear if the scope presented below will remain intact in terms of its new, more personal story.
Chris Hemsworth, Anne Hathaway and Ben Whishaw were attached to star before production was shut down, although it isn't known if they are still attached. Chris Hemsworth is gearing up to start shooting Avengers: Age of Ultron next year, while Ben Whishaw is attached to Bond 24, so it seems unlikely they will be back. Steven Spielberg still doesn't officially have his next project lined up, after he backed out of American Sniper in August.
Here's the official synopsis for the adaptation below.
"In the near future, an increasingly robot-reliant society faces extinction after a computer scientist accidentally unleashes a sentient artificial intelligence named Archos. After failed attempts at making a non-homocidal artificial intelligence, the safeguards in a computer science lab are compromised. Archos, a supremely intelligent AI, becomes self-aware and immediately starts planning the decimation of human civilization in an attempt to preserve Earth's biodiversity. After infecting all penetrable networked electronic devices (cars, airplanes, elevators, robots, etc.) with a "precursor virus", Archos begins planning a systematic attack on the human race."
