In related news, there's been a mild controversy over the fact that RoboCop, which is set in Detroit, is shooting in Toronto. Well, now, it has been announced that the cast and crew are heading to Michigan after all, having been approved for $294,000 in incentives on $1 million in anticipated in-state spending. Like the original, parts of the movie, mostly exterior shots, will actually be shot in Detroit, with the rest of this rebooted adventure continuing to film in Canada.
RoboCop comes to theaters February 7th, 2014 and stars Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, Abbie Cornish, Jackie Earle Haley, Michael Keaton, Jay Baruchel, Michael K. Williams. The film is directed by José Padilha.

@Mutant, Yeah that's what I usually do, stick with the originals. I still haven't seen the new Halloween movies and don't plan on it. Knowing Rob Zombie, he replaced the classic, creepy John Carpenter score with death metal crap, and made Michael Myers run fast to kill his victims instead of the creepy slow-paced stalk of "The Shape".
We all know that, more times than not, Hollywood sifts out what we've all loved about the originals (to make "their vision") and creates something that's the original in name only and leaves us feeling alienated and violated by Hollywood, because they've stollen what we've loved for years and changed it into something else, it fails and it's no longer anybodys. I honestly hope they've tricked us and this armor is actually his police uniform. The armor is not up to Robocop level, but it surpasses the police body armor in the original. I hope we haven't actually seen Robocop yet. I'm keeping my fingers tightly crossed. And again, I hope Ed-209 is still only ten feet tall. I wonder if this version will be more gory and we will actually see the only part of Alex that they saved as he becomes Robocop.

These photos don't entice me to see the movie. They just seem like "Hey, look. We can cover a guy in shiny armor and still keep him limber enough to straddle a bike." The original RoboCop was kind of intimidating, but this looks like an elaborate cosplay to me. They should have done something that would catch people off-guard instead of going the predictable route by just covering the dude in randomly shaped bits of armor and sticking the helmet on top to make it look Robocop-y.

remake, reboot, rehash, re-image, it's all the same.
It's all about money in the end, do we need any of that... no.
It's an attention grab, 'Ohhh, we haven't seen Jason in a while or Robocop or whatever. Lets remake it'
What Hollywood isn't paying attention to is the original fans of any franchise.
Just because they can doesn't mean they should.

@pbcritical that's the thing about the original, it wasn't meant to be about speed. It's like saying Jason Vortees was too slow in walking, in Jason's case he was dead. Dead men don't walk fast.
In the case with Robocop, with all the heavy metal on you would walk slow too. Criminals rushed to him or stood up to him only to die in the attempt.
I'll watch this to see what it's like but if it fails in the attempt, then I'll stick with the original.

I kinda want to watch this version. I know the original is a classic but I never really got into the Robocop trilogy. I found that the original robocop was too slow and bulky to be pratical for fighting crime in the real world. Plus the original Robocop was so shiny that he really stood out. I feel that this verison will be more fast and cool. But will wait and see regardless.

Funny... The suit looks just like the one used on GI-Joe, as special weapons by Duke and Ripcord. Hated by many there. But loved in a reboot here. Yea, makes more sense in this movie compared to GI-Joe, but still. lol... Was not looking forward to this movie. Basically cause I am not fan of reboots of movies not that old. But some clips shown so far does look cool. Wait for a real comment after a trailer.
