Keanu Reeves is being considered to play the next Robocop
We reported last month that Joshua Zetumer is taking over screenwriting duties on the project. Since the screenplay is still being written, it seems unlikely that any serious offers will go out to cast members until a draft is done.
RoboCop would provide an interesting challenge for A-list actors such as Tom Cruise, Keanu Reeves, and Johnny Depp, since their face would be obscured by that metal mask for a good portion of the movie. However, Robert Downey Jr. pulled it off just fine in Iron Man.
It isn't known when production will start on RoboCop, though a 2013 release date is being considered by MGM. The original 1987 Robocop starred Peter Weller as a Detroit police officer who narrowly escapes death and is revived as a half-man half-robot crime-fighting machine.
RoboCop comes to theaters February 7th, 2014 and stars Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, Abbie Cornish, Jackie Earle Haley, Michael Keaton, Jay Baruchel, Michael K. Williams. The film is directed by José Padilha.

The ONLY one I see pulling off this roll is Karl Urban. But to be honest.. why in God's name would they try to bring this crap back from the past? It wasn't good then.. its not going to be good now.

NO, NONE OF THEM...the first three films sucked, but whether reinvented as the graphic novels are or original comics and a right style era and formality and cast yes, KEANU just ticks the list for a bomb of a f*cking sh*tty flop of a film, Johnny, quite possibly will hold the characteristics and emotions. Tom Cruise would just look out of place and smile in the wrong places

I hate when they remake movies that don't need to be remade. This and The Karate Kid come to mind. Nobody can beat Peter Weller. If keanu gets the part at least it will be different. Robocop can go surfing and say dude a lot. But seriously out of these three i'd pick him.

As long as the story is good and all that......though, non of these would be The Mime's actor of choice but still, they could work....again, as long as the story works......
And a new robot suit.......since many heroes have been remaking and modernizing their costumes in all these new movies and stuff....The Mime thinks its only fair that Robo-cop gets one........In fact, he's getting one...The Mime guarantees that.... Back then was cool, but its a new world now, who would want to see that plastic-stuck-together-by-glue suit back.....as The Mime said, back then it was cool....... Or what?.....what do you this suit?.... in time, The Mime will draw and share a picture of what he sees the suit could look like.

and someone below made a good point about the bad guy. they have to get someone really badass to play bodicker in this one. if, indeed they are retelling the original story instead of writing a new one. it'll be damn hard to outdo kurtwood smith.
