How are the Robocop negotiations?
It is about doing a new movie, and we're working on it at the moment, and the negotiations are closed already.
It is already closed?
It has been a while!
Really? We received that news only on March 1st, but it seems like you've been talking about it for some time, is that correct?
Yes, we're already working on the screenplay and everything...
This is something that can work out really well or... I mean, because there's a lot of expectations around this, how are your expectations?
I have no concerns about it. I only work on movies when it feels right, when I add something of my own way of portraying things. I make movies for myself and I don't feel nervous, I have no problem with expectations, and if the movie is going to work or not. I just look forward to keep its integrity and directing it the best way I can, all the rest doesn't concern me.
MGM was looking for a globally appealing director. Why do you think they chose you?
I don't know. I think they saw my movies and felt there was something there that could bring to the present day this controversial, yet different, violent movie which is RoboCop without misrepresenting it.
So when can we expect RoboCop to come out?
It's a project I'm developing from the very beginning together with Josh Zetumer, which is the screenwriter, and there's no deadline really. When the screenplay turns out good enough, then we will start shooting.

@joekerr2e...Agreed man, its gotta be rated R, remember the execution scene where they blew off his hand and just rittled him with bullets, where the guy got all the toxic waste poured on him and his skin melted off before getting ran over, and also when Robo stabs the dad from that 70's show in the neck and all the blood squirts out...THAT WAS AWESOME... :D

Hopefully it will get a R and not a PG-13 we already know it will be in 3-D thats expected, the classic at first got a N-17 before it hit theaters so im hoping it will be as gory and graphic as the classic but these days you dont hear much about N-17 rating like you did in the late 70's and 80's.

It would have been better to continue wouldn't it? Don't show his face and just improve it with todays cinematic technology. Instead of a reboot, but, oh well.

@bane5000 I'm with you on this one. This is a classic and even if an update would be nice, I'd almost bet my house they're going to make it PG-13 and 3D. When it is finally made, it needs to be a hard "R" and keep the 3D out of it.
