Robert Rodriguez Has Written Machete Kills

Machete Kills is already written
Machete Kills is already written
The end credits of Machete promise that Danny Trejo's popular character will return in a sequel titled Machete Kills. Though, we've never been told when we can expect to see this hard-hitting follow up. Bloody Disgusting learned that a script is actually completed for the movie, and it might be coming sooner than we think.

In a recent red carpet interview, Danny Trejo had this to say about Machete's return in Machete Kills:

"I asked (Robert Rodriguez) when he was going to write it and he says it's written, so we can get started pretty quick. We went all over the world with that movie and people kept having me sign these Machete action figures, it was a lot of fun. I don't even think Robert Rodriguez even expected that reception and now everyone is waiting for Machete Kills so hurry up Robert Rodriguez!"

Machete is a planned trilogy, with Machete Kills followed by Machete Kills Again. There are no story details at this time.

Machete was released September 3rd, 2010 and stars Danny Trejo, Robert De Niro, Jessica Alba, Steven Seagal, Michelle Rodriguez, Jeff Fahey, Cheech Marin, Don Johnson. The film is directed by Ethan Maniquis, Robert Rodriguez.

Machete Kills comes to theaters in 2013 and stars Danny Trejo, Mel Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jessica Alba, Amber Heard, Demián Bichir, Sofía Vergara. The film is directed by Robert Rodriguez.

Machete Kills Again... in Space! comes to theaters in 2013.

The Mime's honest opinion.... This movie sucks ass.. The Mime thought it was going to be cool but it just turned out to be like this weird, senseless film; a girl pretending to be captured then after wards pull a f*cken cell phone out of there VA-China....come on man..unique, but strange....

ahhahhahah i did not think this was gonna be made.. well ill watch it, machete was hilarious, this coming from a latino. he did a good job explioting as babyh said. but i'd rather watch his do the deadpool movie to be frank

@High: Agreed on all counts. Death Proof was awesome and I loved every second of it, but next to Planet Terror it took a back seat (or in this case, the passenger seat of Stuntman Mike's car). And you're right, nobody does it better. I wouldn't mind if he stuck with it from here going forward.

@babyH ...agree with what you said about Rodriguez sticking with this genre. Nobody does it better. I thought it was especially evident with Grindhouse where Tarantinos movie looked like dogsh-t next to PlanetTerror. (and I like Tarantino)
*I would love to see SinCity2 though....and soon.

@Dave: Lol. It's cool. I thought it was really good. Look at it like this: If you were going to sit down and make an exploitation movie, it doesn't get much better than films like Machete, Bitch Slap, Black Dynamite, Death Proof and Planet Terror. Sure they're not going to garner any critical acclaim, but they're great for what they are. In that sense, I thought it was great.

@babyH one of the best films of the year?!?!? lol i luv doing that

  21. thedude-abides

@Narrator: Don't mean to make this twice in one week, but damn. U do realize it's supposed to be a "sh*tty" 70s style exploitation flick, right? Everything u just mentioned about why it sucked was done on purpose. I'm not a big RR fan myself, but I thought Machete was one of the best films of the year, albeit for what it was. Anyway, I can't fault you for disliking his stuff. It's perfectly understandable, especially if it's not your thing.

The one thing I do hope is that he doesn't repeat himself with the sequels. I would like to see him stay in the exploitation genre, but move on to something else. Machete was great, but it's been done.

@Dave -true. you cannot compare his kid movies to "classic" kid ones..but you cannot deny what I said about why he made those movies and what it allows him to do. That's really the main point I wanted to make about that.

    1 year agoby @highcaliberincFlag

  23. Daveactor7

    I actually agree with @Narrator
@High kid films or not, they were terrible. I mean look at some other kid films. They are excellent

  24. HighCaliberINC

@TheNarrator... dude, then just don't waste your time watching his movies. Everyone has their opinions and thats fine...but you obviously do not get what he does, especially with this one... this movie is incredibly tongue-in-cheek with everything (including the horrendous acting you mentioned) save your energy and just ignore anything he does. And as far as him doing movies like SpyKids.. one, the guy has children, and two, those stupid movies single-handedly make him financially independent from studios that may not wat to touch any of his 'passion" movies. The guy can pretty much sit back and wait for crazy offers, or use his Troublemaker studios to produce anything he wants. This is a smart dude...those "kid" movies aren't great..but you should give him credit for knowing what he's doing.

  26. The Narrator: The Better Man

God, no. The first film was pretty much crap all around. Even from a "guilty pleasure" perspective. The subliminal/bold political statements in the film we're totally against my beliefs, the action was overly cheesy (its Rodriguez, what did I expect), and the acting was horrendous, even for a seemingly grind house picture. As long as RR keeps making films like this, Spy Kids and Shorts, he will remain in my director sh*t list.

I'm not sure if it was the advertising or just me being blind, but I really wanted to see "Machete" in theaters, and I was just never aware of the release date. I forgot all about it until I saw this article. The same thing happened when Michael Bay's "The Island" came out. I saw it on store shelves before I could see it on the big screen.
