During an interview with The Strait Times (via Here Be Geeks), the actor casually dropped the following bombshell.
It should be noted that nothing has been confirmed by Marvel, and that the sequel already has a number of villains, with Sebastian Stan playing The Winter Soldier, Frank Grillo as Crossbones, UFC fighter Georges St. Pierre as Batroc, and Toby Jones as Armin Zola. What could this revelation mean for the rest of Phase Two? We'll have to wait a few years to find out.
In somewhat-related news, Robert Redford signed on to direct A Walk in the Woods, a project he was already set to star in alongside Nick Nolte. Richard Linklater was previously attached to direct, but he is no longer involved at this point.
Michael Arndt (Star Wars: Episode VII, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire) is writing the screenplay, based on Bill Bryson's novel. Robert Redford will play the author, who reconnects with an old friend (Nick Nolte) on a hike through the Appalachian Mountains, after spending more than 20 years in England.
Chip Diggins and Bill Holderman are producing. No production schedule was given.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier was released April 4th, 2014 and stars Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Robert Redford, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo. The film is directed by Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Joss Whedon.
