"Yes, I think we'll be abroad," he said, referring to rumblings that Holmes would be leaving London behind for his next adventure. "A bit of Paris, a bit of Switzerland by the end, if I'm not mistaken."
Downey also spoke about who will return for the sequel, such as his Sherlock Holmes co-star Rachel McAdams, although it seems that those decisions haven't been made as of yet.
"It's hard to say [who is coming back]," Downey said. The biggest question mark is on Holmes' love interest in the first outing, played by Rachel McAdams. "Because Irene Adler only appeared in one of the stories of Doyle's reservoir of activities. But we'll find out quickly."
We'll be sure to keep you posted on any further details on Sherlock Holmes 2 as soon as we have more information.
Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows was released December 16th, 2011 and stars Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, Noomi Rapace, Rachel McAdams, Jared Harris, Stephen Fry, Paul Anderson, Kelly Reilly. The film is directed by Guy Ritchie.

I loved the first one, it had an infectious energy to it, with a perfect setup for this one. I hope they convince Brad Pitt to be Professor Moriarty :)

I agree with Sly about not rushing Moriarty out of the shadows just yet. I wouldn't mind seeing them keep McAdams, but considering that Holmes never really had a girlfriend, she isn't necessary. A character that I would love to see added is Mycroft, Sherlock's older brother.

Good for them. Take it abroad. For London looks just too damn dank and gloomy for another film. Afterall, London has been seen plenty of times. Going somewhere new would be vastly more enjoyable.
And both Adler & Moriarty only appeared in 1 story each, with Moriarty being referenced--but never seen--in a handful of other stories. Hopefully they won't make him into a big deal for the sequel.
