Robert de Niro to Star in Lee Daniels' Selma?

A seemingly arbitrary story about Robert De Niro switching agents has lead to some news about upcoming projects. Buried within a Deadline Hollywood Daily story was a mention that De Niro will play George Wallace in Lee Daniels' new film Selma.

De Niro would play the Alabama governor who famously refused to de-segregate his state. Wallace's stance lead to the famous marches in Selma and Montgomery, Alabama.

It wasn't clear when the film would get started, but it was said to be the Precious director Daniels' next film and if De Niro is indeed involved, then production might be getting started soon.

Selma was released in 2010 and stars Hugh Jackman, Liam Neeson, David Oyelowo, Lenny Kravitz, Cedric the Entertainer. The film is directed by Lee Daniels.

Sounds like it'll be his first serious gig in years. De Niro will have to actually 'work' on his craf, He's been a lazy actor for the last decade (as well as Pacino).
