MGM has bought the rights to Rob Schneider's Big Stan. The film, which was shot last year, features Schneider as a nerdy thief who gets sent to prison. Afraid of being hassled in jail, he hires a martial arts guru played by David Carradine to teach him kung fu. Behind prison bars, his newfound skills make him an unlikely hero.

Ultimate fighting champion Randy Couture will costar with Schneider. According to Variety, the studio hopes that his presence will bring in the fighter's huge personal fan base.

The film is set for a wide December release.
