Ridley Scott's Monopoly Could Hit Theaters in 2012

Monopoly in 2012?
Monopoly in 2012?
We haven't heard about Ridley Scott's film version of Monopoly in some time and an executive at Hasbro has revealed that the film is still moving forward. MTV Movies Blog recently spoke with Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner who told the site that the Monopoly film is on track for a 2012 or a 2013 release.

"Ridley is still onboard and wants to be part of this and we're very excited about this, probably for 2012...13...somewhere in the future."

"The great part about Monopoly is the history, literally the history of the creation of the brand and the fact that the brand is 75 years old so you have this great opportunity for the real history as well as the fictional history to tell stories of families and characters over a brief period of time."

Goldner also said that screenwriter Pamela Pettler's screenplay was "great" but that it also might not be, "all there yet."

Really wish Scott wouldn't do this. I would rather he focus on Brave New World.

@remy: ahh, the old "Why do psychics get sick" problem. It implies that the future is mutable when in fact it may not be.

Of course, I don't buy the whole 2012 thing either. They had to pick a year for their calendar to end; it's as simple as that.

how the hell is this gonna be done i mean come on are they serious. and when it comes to the whole 2012 thing i have 1 BIG QUESTION if the Mayans were so god damn smart and could see the future. how come they couldn't see their own demise??????? Anyone?????

Actually I didn't know you were joking or not, but that's not something you should joke about someone is going to take it very serious. There are a number of people that believe that 2012 will be the end, I may not be one of them but I can say for one thing be careful of what you joke about.

People that have visions of the future, usually are insane.

I avoid card board films, they just seem to suck but I'm willing to see a Diablo film. That reminds me, is there any update on the Dizzt Do'Urden film.

Cut - it - out, spynet. There are reasons why those visions of the future look glum. We the people make our lives the way we want, it's not destiny, it ain't the end of time, we're the ones heading that way since we don't have faith.
The future can't be foretold, but we can change what ever lies ahead. I might be interested in it, but I surly don't believe it.

Now as this film, the biggest joke e-v-e-r

Ridley Scott and Monopoly. What's next? Michael Bay and Sorry? James Cameron and Life?

Doesn't make any difference. We're all gonna be dead in 2012 anyway. That's just bad marketing right there.

    Jesus.

Look at that mustache. And I know he's doing well but a tophat and suit? That's a bit much Mr. Scott.
