Ridley Scott directing a new Blade Runner movie
The director will start on this new Blade Runner after he finishes work on Prometheus, which is slated for release on June 8, 2012. The new Blade Runner project does not have a writer attached at this point, and it isn't known if Harrison Ford will return to portray Richard Deckard.
Blade Runner was released theatrically in 1982 and, although it wasn't a blockbuster, grossing just $32 million, the movie gained a massive following in the years that followed. The movie centered on Harrison Ford's Richard Deckard, a blade runner who is tasked with finding and eliminating "replicants," robots who easily pass as humans. He ends up falling for one of the replicants and struggles with the decision of whether or not to destroy her. The movie was adapted from the Philip K. Dick short story "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?"
Ridley Scott will produce alongside Alcon's Andrew A. Kosove and Broderick Johnson.
Blade Runner was released June 25th, 1982 and stars Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer, Sean Young, Edward James Olmos, M. Emmet Walsh, Daryl Hannah, William Sanderson, Brion James. The film is directed by Ridley Scott.

Scott's endeavors always end up with some great sets. I was really blown away with the sets in Robin Hood, and even Pillars of the Earth. Some epic stuff, indeed. I don't think the guy has it in him to half-ass on the detail. I'm even okay with CGI as long as it is restrained.

Ridley is one of the greatest Directors past , present and future. I am super stoked for everything he has slated for the near future. Prometheus is looking like it could be a new favorite for me , now I will just have to see how well this new blade runner comes along. Hopefully they both rock my world, just like their predecessors did...

Wow, Ridley Scott returning to the Alien and Blade Runner franchises (arguably his two greatest films) within the same couple of years is a real treat to film fans. I can't wait to see what he comes up with.

i for one am glad scott is revisiting aliens, and possibly blade runner. He really defined genres back then and it is good to see him back... however i would hope that he would possibly think of doing an original sci/fi piece as well, and not just committing to sequels and prequels.
I do hope ford will return, would be nice to see him an older version of deckard in it though... and NO CGI, unless absolutely necessary in certain scenes.

@zeeman1 I hope it's true. Bladerunner is my favorite movie. I just hope Ridley does not go full cgi. His new movie Prometheus may give us an idea what he may do.

I should also add that he hasn't been officially confirmed as being involved with this project, as far as I can tell.

Go watch the remastered blue ray of Blade Runner. The FX and production quality are actually better than a lot of what's being done today. Everything feels "real", not like the sterile world of CG.

I don't have a problem with Ridley going back to Blade Runner, while I love the films visuals, sound, music and story the acting and pace is very slow and off in most places.

If they get Vangelis onboard for the score, I'll be so happy I could puke. I've been waiting for this since I was 15.

I don't think Ford will be back, though that'd be awesome. He could be back as a secondary character though, either old or young.
But I'm honestly not that much interested in Ford's character, it's Ridley's universe that fascinates me. I'm fantasizing how his Bladerunner world will look now with today's VFX. I imagine something similar to Avatar's new earth opening (the extended opening from the Bluray) which was obviously hugely inspired by Bladerunner.

It will be interesting to see what Ridley will do. Will he try to have the same feel as the first movie, or just make it action packed. All CGI? hope not.

this made my day! If they gonna have another Bladerunner, at least it's the same director. Nolan would have been ok too.

They could do to Ford what they did to Bridges in TL

@jimthar Maybe what they will plan to do is that Harrison Ford might have a younger partner and he needs to teach him how to hunt androids. I don't know. That seems like something they will do, although I don't agree with it. Who knows what they'll do.

The Narrator: The Better Man
@ejk1, wile that's a pretty funny comment, it was also quite horrific to read. Lol.
I don't know why this is happening, but it shouldn't, as far as I'm concerned. I may be proven wrong, but I doubt it right now.

The_KNOWN_unknown
This movie doesnt really need a sequel or prequel. Damn sure not a remake or reboot but i have faith that Ridley will probably blow my mind again. Hope he gets Fassbender for one of the leads.

I just read that Casablanca was getting a sequel. It takes place in the late 1940's after the war. In it, Rick, regretful that he let Ilsa get on the plane, decides to go looking for her. Rick will be played possibly by Mark Wahlberg, and Ilsa could be played by Jennifer Aniston. More details later.

@the-tall-guy i know he returned for indy 4, but at the same time, that was a series that he'd been in over the years through the 80's and early 90's when pt 3 came out. so you see him age and mature throughout the movies. they even wrote it into the story a bit. but blade runner came out 30 years ago and it really makes no sense for him to be in it now. thats more what i meant. what is he gonna play, a 65 year old version of his former self? it just makes no sense. now if this movie was made in say, 1995 or something i could understand it, but now i just think they're trying too hard to find a way for him to be in it. just seems dumb to me.

*Here's another example of why I rarely comment.*
@thedude1 That's exactly my point. Since Cameron's return from his 12-year hiatus, he's been anything but original. I was being sarcastic. You couldn't tell that?
9 months agoby @thedude-abidesFlag
TheDude1
@thedude-abides I hope you are not trying to say James Cameron is original. Avatar was far from an original idea and is now going to have 2 sequels made. Not only that he is re-releasing Titanic in converted 3D something Cameron said he was against.

WOW.......That is incredible!!!! I cant even begin to describe how excited I am for Ridley to be returning to, not just one, but two sci-fi films, back to back!!
Hopefully, this will inspire him to finally get around to making The Forever War. I've been waiting for that "FOREVER" now.
