During a recent conversation with Zap2It.com, Night at the Museum director Shawn Levy revealed that "The Office" star Ricky Gervais was joining the cast of the upcoming comedy.

Ben did his show, 'Extras,' in an infamous cameo and Ricky is returning the favor by playing a very uptight museum director," Levy explains.

Night at the Museum is starting production in New York and will continue in Vancouver.

The movie focuses on a bumbling security guard at the Museum of Natural History who discovers that the museum's exhibits come to life every night. The film will be a mixture of live action and CG elements and it represents the biggest production yet for Levy, whose credits include Cheaper by the Dozen and Big Fat Liar.

Night at the Museum was released December 22nd, 2006 and stars Ben Stiller, Carla Gugino, Dick Van Dyke, Mickey Rooney, Bill Cobbs, Jake Cherry, Ricky Gervais, Robin Williams. The film is directed by Shawn Levy.
