Results Are in for the Top 25 Favorite Action Movies of All Time
...Die Hard. The 1988 classic, directed by John McTiernan and starring Bruce Willis, tallied the most votes out of several thousand cast on a customized page at the theatre chain's official Web site; www.amctheatres.com/hotfuzz. The poll was timed to celebrate Rogue's April 20 U.S. release of Hot Fuzz, the action-packed new hit comedy from the Shaun of the Dead team. After its smash success in the U.K., the movie opened in the U.S. and became the best-reviewed comedy of the year; scored the highest per-screen average of any picture in the U.S. boxoffice Top 10 for two weeks in a row; and has grossed nearly $14 million domestically to date.
One of the most popular movie genres of all time now has its own best-of list, as the fans had the last word and voted for movies from five different decades. The top 25 movies, in order of votes cast, are Die Hard; The Terminator; Lethal Weapon; Se7en; Dirty Harry; The Blues Brothers; Training Day; Bad Boys II; The Untouchables; Man on Fire (2004); Beverly Hills Cop; Bad Boys; L.A. Confidential; Heat; The French Connection; Desperado; Witness; 48 HRS.; The Bone Collector; Serpico; Bullitt; Lethal Weapon 2; Tango and Cash; Hard-Boiled; and The Last Boy Scout. The actors with the most movies in the top 25 were Denzel Washington and Danny Glover, who starred in 3 pictures apiece; the directors with the most movies cited were Michael Bay, Richard Donner, and Tony Scott, with 2 apiece.

Man on Fire? The Bone Collector? Some very odd picks here, although Die Hard sounds like a pretty damn good pick for the top spot.

Even though Action and Adventure are usually bundled together as one genre, I do think they are seperate. Indiana Jones is most definitely adventure while Die Hard is not. Also I think Star Wars is classified just as sci-fi even though it should be a sci-fi/western in my opinion.

It's funny, some friends and I are working on lists of top 50 to post on our myspace pages. I only see 7 movies on this list I would put in a top 50, let alone top 25.

I AGREE WITH DAVESTER: THE STAR WARS SAGA ROCKED IN ACTION AND ADVENTURE. BUT, PLEASE LET ME ADD THE INDIANA JONES TRILOGY: RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, THE TEMPLE OF DOOM AND THE LAST CRUSADE.

Where's Star Wars on the list? Are none of the six films considered action films ... or are they just simply sci-fi movies?
