Resident Evil: Afterlife coming to IMAX theaters
The film, which was photographed in 3D, will be digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience with proprietary IMAX DMR (Digital Re-mastering) technology and presented in IMAX 3D. IMAX says, "The crystal-clear images coupled with IMAX's customized theatre geometry and powerful digital audio create a unique immersive environment that will make audiences feel as if they are in the movie."
"In 3D, fans of Resident Evil will have a whole new way to enjoy this next exciting chapter, and we're delighted that audiences will also have the opportunity to experience the film in IMAX 3D at digital IMAX locations, where they will feel like they are virtually in the movie," said Rory Bruer, President, Worldwide Distribution for Sony Pictures Releasing.
"Our ability to include Resident Evil into the IMAX lineup for 2010 is a direct result of the growing IMAX theatre network, and we're excited to work once again with Sony Pictures to reach the vast fan-base for this series," said IMAX CEO Richard L. Gelfond. "Our partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment is growing with our digital theatre network, and we're looking forward to continued success with them as we open more theatres, release more event films and expand our audience globally."
"The Resident Evil series and IMAX share a key common ground -- fanboys," added Greg Foster, Chairman and President of IMAX Filmed Entertainment. "We're very excited to add this movie to our lineup to offer the millions of loyal 'Resident Evil fans a chance to experience this next chapter in IMAX 3D."
Resident Evil: Afterlife was released September 10th, 2010 and stars Milla Jovovich, Ali Larter, Kim Coates, Shawn Roberts, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Spencer Locke, Boris Kodjoe, Wentworth Miller. The film is directed by Paul W.S. Anderson.

"Im really mad they ripped off a scene from the Matrix: Reloaded" and you people didn't liked The Matrix Reloaded, why would you be mad? I for one love all Matrix films, and yeah, I don't like that they used that scene....

Can they get another director, I don't mind Paul but I rather see a Romano version or Wes or any other director. Hell I wouldn't mind if Peter Jackson did one, I know if wishes were horses.

Killer. I just want to see it in regular 2D format, though. Why the world needed a 3D Resident Evil movie I will never understand. Can't wait to see the final showdown with Alice/Umbrella in Tokyo, and what the Redfield convoy finds in Alaska. Bring it.

Unusual, Normally IMAX is for movies with A-List blockbuster potential or doc*mentaries (lol). Didn't knwo they were accepting B-list franchises that ruin the stories they are based on. With that said, I will see the movie because I saw the others and I'm excited for Wesker and Wenterworth Miller's Chris Redfield. But i wont pay for 3D or IMAX

@Jimthar
I agree. The Alice storyline is quite boring. Why couldn't they follow the characters from the games I will never understand.
