The Red Dawn remake finds a home at FilmDistrict
We reported back in February that MGM was looking to team up with Sony on distribution of Red Dawn, which stars Chris Hemsworth, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Adrianne Palicki, and Josh Hutcherson. It seems that Sony (and every other studio) balked at picking up the remake, not wanting to offend the massive Chinese market, since the villains are Chinese soldiers who invade America. We reported in March that the producers opted to change the villains from Chinese to North Korean.
An official release date has not been announced for Red Dawn, although it is believed to hit theaters sometime in 2012. FilmDistrict recently released the critically-acclaimed Drive. The studio also released Soul Surfer, Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, and Insidious this year.
Red Dawn comes to theaters November 2nd, 2012 and stars Chris Hemsworth, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Adrianne Palicki, Josh Hutcherson, Isabel Lucas, Josh Peck, Brett Cullen, Matt Gerald. The film is directed by Dan Bradley.
