The story follows a pessimistic woman (Amanda Seyfried) who uses her social media skills to find out everything she can about the guys her friends date. When she meets her perfect match, she uses her web skills to turn herself into the right woman for him. Rebel Wilson is playing her carefree best friend, who tries to get her to stop all the snooping around online.
Jake Szymanski is directing from a screenplay by Lauryn Kahn, who was formerly producer Adam McKay's assistant. Fox 2000 originally picked up the spec script back in 2011 in a seven-figure deal, although Universal picked up the project out of turnaround. Adam McKay and Will Ferrell are producing through their Gary Sanchez Productions company, alongside Good Universe's Nathan Kahane, Kevin J. Messick and Joseph Drake. No production schedule was given.
