Rebecca de Mornay Set for Mother's Day

Rebecca De Mornay has signed on to play the evil mother in the remake of cult 1980 horror pic Mother's Day, joining co-stars Jamie King, Shawn Ashmore, Briana Evigan and Deborah Ann Woll.

According to Variety, De Mornay is no stranger to dark motherly figures since her turn as a devious nanny in The Hand That Rocks the Cradle.

Darren Lynn Bousman is helming from Scott Milam's script, which follows a family of villains, led by a sadistic mother, who return to their former home and terrorize the new owners and their guests. The filmmakers are aiming for a release in April, timed to take advantage of Mother's Day on May 9.

Production will start next week in Winnipeg.

Mother's Day comes to theaters May 11th, 2012 and stars Rebecca De Mornay, Jaime King, Patrick Flueger, Warren Kole, Matt O'Leary, Deborah Ann Woll, Briana Evigan, Frank Grillo. The film is directed by Darren Lynn Bousman.
