Movie PictureAccording to The Hollywood Reporter, Ray, starring best actor Oscar nominee Jamie Foxx, sold more than 2 million combined DVD and VHS units Tuesday during its first day in release on home video, according to industry sources. Ray, which has received six Oscar nominations, including best picture and a best director nomination for Taylor Hackford, generated more than $44 million in gross consumer home video spending during its first 24 hours on store shelves.

Estimates of consumer rental spending on Ray will not be made available until next week. Last week, the sci-fi actioner Alien vs. Predator, starring Sanaa Lathan, was the best-selling DVD nationwide, according to Nielsen VideoScan.
