Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale Trailer

Oscilloscope Laboratories has unleashed the first domestic trailer for director Jalmari Helander's clever and scary Norwegian holiday thriller Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale. The plot follows an archeological dig that unearths Santa Claus, and then tries to sell the dangerous being for profit. To check out this wily new trailer, click on the video below:

On the eve of Christmas in northern Finland, an archeological dig unearths Santa Claus. This particular Santa, however, isn't the one you want coming to town. When most of the town's children go missing, Pietari and his father, a local hunter named Rauno, come into possession of the mythological being. Rauno's clan of hunters attempt to cash in on the opportunity by selling Santa back to the misguided leader of the multinational corporation sponsoring the dig. What ensues is nothing short of a wildly humorous nightmare - a fantastically bizarre polemic on modern day morality.

Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale was released December 3rd, 2010 and stars Per Christian Ellefsen, Peeter Jakobi, Tommi Korpela, Jorma Tommila, Jonathan Hutchings, Onni Tommila, Risto Salmi, Rauno Juvonen. The film is directed by Jalmari Helander.

This is "Silent Night, Deadly Night" all over again . . . with a budget! If you must see a Christmas B movie this holiday season, rent MST3K's Santa Clause Conquers the Martians. It's horrible, but at least you have a guy and two robots making fun of it the whole time :P

Why do people see a need to make a scary movie based on christmas and santa claus? Really? Can someone please tell me why they are so into the idea of this besides of money? I can see Halloween time as a scary movie time of the year. I can understand kids trick or treating is used. I can see a horror based on the valentine day when some one gest their feelings hurt and go nuts. St. Patricks day, lepercans are scary little men who are greedy. But Santa? Whats next, the Easter Bunny? Or how about thanksgiving some turnkey comes back to life and pecks the people to death.....
