Raphael Dons a Disguise in Rip-Off of Original 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Movie

More set photos include an explosion in downtown New York and the appearance of Whoopi Goldberg.
If you hadn't given up on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles already, you might after seeing the latest batch of set photos that came in over the weekend. First up, we have Raphael (Alan Ritchson) donning a disguise, in what appears to be a scene ripped-off from the original 1990 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. Maybe you can could call it an homage, but some might just call it lazy. It does have a nostalgia factor to it. But worse yet is the appearance of one Whoopi Goldberg in a crazy wig, which would have been a turn-off way back in 1990. She is death on cinema, and it makes no sense why she would show up here. The kids didn't want this. Trust us. We also have photos and video from downtown New York which depicts an explosion on April O'Neil's TV station. Check it out, and then make some noise. Please yell at Michael Bay: Whoopi Goldberg does not belong in this movie! Edit that out, or we're not going! Who's with me this morning? (We do like Megan Fox carrying the sai in her boot though, that's a nice touch.)

By request of the studio, these images have been removed.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comes to theaters August 8th, 2014 and stars Megan Fox, William Fichtner, Will Arnett, Alan Ritchson, Jeremy Howard, Noel Fisher, Pete Ploszek, Danny Woodburn. The film is directed by Jonathan Liebesman.

Surely hommage or simply a nod would be better than rip off what a tool.

Such animosity over a freaking disguise. Sheesh. But the Whoopi outrage is definitely founded in truth. The woman can only bring this project down to View-like mind-numbing status.

@adamsandlerfggot69 TMNT as a concept is kind of an eye-rollingly dumb concept, really. I can understand kids liking it, but I think some people these days take it WAY too seriously.

Alan, I think it's time you hang up the journalist hat. I can easily pick out which articles are yours just by their lack of integrity. "Rip-Off of Original Teenage..." sounds pretty biased, doesn't it? Let the fans decide, friend.

Its not a ripe off. They used the trench coats and hats in the animation cartoon in the 80's as well as the comics. I do think they look both cool and a bit over sizeds in a cartoony way. But I myself, still wonder why they are having the voice actors playing the motion capture when they do not know martial arts at the level they would need to know for their characters. But damn... Whoopi is a "Brick House".....lol

Please edit this story and put the RIGHT terms in. Don't use 'us' or 'we' just be honest and put 'I' since you are speaking for yourself and yourself alone...

@brady1138 Yeah you're right, I guess it was supposed to look ridiculous and cartoony from the start. No way anyone could make a TMNT film that isn't eye rollingly dumb looking.

I can't believe there are people saying this looks ridiculous and unbelievable in a movie called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I really think nostalgia can warp someone's perceptions to the point where it can be harmful.

I don't think it's lazy for them making Raph disguise himself to walk in public as it is his job as a ninja to be stealthy and hidden as possible. I also don't think this to happen because now it makes sense from the previous photos showing Raphael in public with no disguise just him in the public all natural

Oh and Whoopi is looking fat....
