Rain to Enter the Dragon?

Latino Review has caught word that Warner Bros. Pictures is considering Korean megastar RAIN (Ninja Assassin) for the lead role in writer/director Kurt Sutter's Awaken the Dragon, which is a noir-style remake of Enter the Dragon, the 1973 martial arts classic that launched Bruce Lee to stardom.

Awaken the Dragon is a contemporized drama about a lone FBI agent who pursues a rogue Shaolin monk into the bloody world of underground martial arts fight clubs.

The original film starred Lee as a martial artist who is drafted by law enforcement to participate in a martial arts tournament and infiltrate a drug smuggling operation run from the host's heavily guarded island.

No production date has been set.

Awaken the Dragon was released in 2009.

I am officially pissed off. Bruce Lee is a FN martial arts god! enter the dragon is one movie that needs to be left alone. Hollywood is really crossing the line. Remakes are FN played out already. enter, fist of fury, return of the dragon, and the chinese connection are untouchable as remakes.Game of death...maybe, but only if jet li is doing it...what the hell is going on in tinseltown....there are so many talented writers, up and comers, with some good ideas..let's see some fresh s**t. And who the F*** is Rain, sounds like a FN stripper from the west side. WB, you wanna remake something, remake your executives that are okaying this sh*t...stop milking SH*T!GR8-1 out!

The only Bruce Lee movie that should be made or remade is "game of death" since it was never fully completed. but I would want it to adhere strictly to his vision of what he wanted the film to be.

SH*TTTTT. I always loved this movie since I was a little kid and now I get to add this to a list of fantastic movies that were remade into sh*tty ones. WAY TO GO WARNER BROS!

A good actor like Rain, should not be compared with Bruce Lee. They both are unique. Hope Warner Bros will give another great project to Rain

No, please don't remake any Bruce Lee movie. It's unfair to whomever play Bruce Lee's role. It'll be tough job. Rain, aka Jeong Ji-hoon, South Korea famous superstar, he is a great singer, actor and performer. He deserved to work on another good Hollywood project.

Ninja Assassin (God I can't say it without laughing) looks kick ass. I am with most everyone else however, on saying "No" to this remake. If they do make it, I will see it, and it might be a good homage. But that's like in 20 years remaking TDK because it was Ledgers second to the last performance. See what I mean?

If they have any respect for the man, they wouldn't do this. And cast some guy named Rain?! F*ck this.

This is were f***ucking Hollywood crosses the damn line. Bruce Lee movies shouldn't be touched, period. Why even bother making an homage with a remake? It's a f*ckin insult saying Bruce wasn't good enough. Nothing Rain Bi tries to pull off, nothing any special effects team tries to create, will ever be at the same peerless caliber of which Bruce Lee was. They should change the title and realize it will be nothing like Enter the Dragon besides martial arts.

I don't mind, homage, remake, or both, I'll probably see it.

I love Bruce Lee as a person and what he stood for but VERY few of hs movies were actually good. I'm not saying that they should remake this but hey, if they screw it up we always have the original.

NO!!!!!!!!!!!! This is one movie that has to be left alone. Any Bruce Lee movie, as a matter of fact. Pay homage, but DO NOT remake it. I read that The Crow (the version Brandon Lee did) is also going to be remade. Hollywood needs to stop this sh*t already. If it ain't broke don't f*cking try to fix it!

Ninja Assassin looks sick, but Im not down with a remake of Enter the Dragon, some things just need to be left alone. Like bigtiev said, no association just pay homage if you feel the need.

on another note bring on more kung fu movies!!!

I can accept some remakes, but not this one. There are some movies that you just don't touch. Ninja Assassin does look cool though.

  23. bigtiev

I am super looking forward to seeing "Ninja Assassin" but I am not pumped for a remake of "Enter the Dragon". Dont say it is a stylized remake dont associate it at all just make the movie which like any new very good Kung Fu/martial arts flick pays homage to "Enter the Dragon". Or come up with an original idea.
