Quantum of Solace Hits Huge in U.K.!

Quantum of Solace opened a week early in the U.K., and it bowed to an amazing $8 million dollars this past Friday. According to Variety, this is the biggest opening day haul in U.K. history.

The record was helped along by a potential amount of advanced ticket sales. The previous Friday best in the U.K. was held by Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, which earned $6.5 million on its opening day. The previous Bond film Casino Royale only culled $4.7 million when it dropped on a Thursday.

Quantum of Solace came with a hearty marketing push from Sony. On Wednesday, the film even received the royal treatment as it was given a Royal World Premiere attended by Prince Harry and Prince William, insuring ample coverage in the U.K. papers.

Quantum of Solace is set to open Stateside on November 14th.

Quantum of Solace was released November 14th, 2008 and stars Daniel Craig, Olga Kurylenko, Mathieu Amalric, Judi Dench, Giancarlo Giannini, Gemma Arterton, Jeffrey Wright, David Harbour. The film is directed by Marc Forster.

It feels long enough. Good movie. It has a thin plot and can also be confusing. I would make sure you watch casino royale the day before you see this. I realy enjoyed it though.

I agree, Chad, and don't get me wrong. I like long films too...if they are good. Extended LOTR is on a pedestal among my collection atop my sweet home theater system. I'm just saying some films can only run their formula for so long. Maybe Quantum of Solace's story is not very long to tell. I'd rather they get to the point than add filler that would distract from the momentum. Since this is the first ever true Bond squeal, all the back story stuff has already been told. Let's pick it up where it left off.

I preferrably like them longer, the average viewer likes them short. I don't know why. Impatience or boredom maybe? I love the extended versions of Lord of the Rings cause no other movie really extends like they do. I wish more movies had extended versions :/

An hour and 46 mins well spent next week, I say :)

Some Bonds are so long that it just drags on and on. About time they condensed it. Heck, Casino Royal could have been shorter. Since when does runtime define a good film or not anyway?
