Quantum of Solace Has No Need for Bond, James Bond

For the first time in 46 years, fans will not hear the famous catchphrase, "Bond, James Bond." According to The Independent, Quantum of Solace might have martinis, but they won't be "shaken not stirred".

Mark Forster explains, "There was a 'Bond, James Bond' in the script. There are several places where we shot it as well, but it never worked as we hoped. I just felt we should cut it out, and Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson (the film's producers) agreed, and Daniel (Craig, who plays Bond) agreed, too. It's nice to be open-minded about the Bond formula. You can always go back to them later on."

Graham Rye, who manages the online 007 Magazine said that Craig, who made his debut in last year's Casino Royale, is much closer to Fleming's vision.

"The Bond films had become tired and needed reinvigorating," he said. "Rather than going away from Fleming I think the producers have gone back to him."

You can judge for yourself when Quantum of Solace hits theaters November 14.

Well, now Vis you must not have been familiar with the Casino Royale original Fleming work. The reason for no Q or gadgets was simply because it is the beginning of his career as a 00 Agent. It was his testing period, his first assignment. Therefore, he doesn't get the gadgets. This Quantum of Solace is like a continuation, a Part 2 if you will, of that story. So it's not a separate mission/movie really, it's still connected to Casino Royale. But for them to say no martinis in this one when he just invented his famous drink in Royale, no Bond line when he used it in the last one, etc, might not be doing Fleming justice. Let's just hope we won't see him driving another Ford, as Casino established the origin of his love for Aston Martins, as well. This is all we're saying.

What the hell! Ah well, the film is still going to be awesome. A real shame though *sigh*.

Casino royale was awesome and i know they didn't say that. My point was that you'll still come out of the theater thinking it was awesome catchphrases or not. I've come to a realization that we hardly agree on anything, vamp, and if u weren't so nice I'd probably have about 5 5-page arguments a week w/ u ...it frustrates me lmao

ALSO. I care that it's not in the movie ;)

Yea Vis, but still. That phrase is what tells everyone it's Bond. It's been in all twenty-one, I don't see why the changed it! It's retarded, also, we never said we weren't going to see it, so I don't get why you even brought that up. You do seem to say that everytime someone says something disagreeing with something you want to see. :) New stuff PLEASE! XD. Anyway, I didn't really think that "Casino Royale" was all that great, so I've got faith in this one, but only to an extent.

I also agree with Vamp. I understand that they needed to go back and secure the rights to and make a film out of the original Bond book, Casino Royale, but there was never a sequel to it. Not only that, but Cubby's children are f*cking with the story too much. CR didn't make ANY sense in terms of continuity (9/11 instead of Cold War?!?? Isn't this supposed to be back in the 50's or 60's? And yet they say it is 2006! And M is a woman! WTF), and now they are continuing it with this trash. The hopes I had to see it were that they would stay true to the book and that the org that Mi6 goes after HAS TO BE "SMERSH." Mr. White is part of that org. But they make up their own stories, instead of staying true to Fleming's work, which is bullsh*t, and now with this news, I am not at all surprised. I definitely won't be seeing this now, and am going to take it off my list. Barbara and Michael G. Wilson are F*CKING IDIOTS.

i like that i can take daniel craig seriously as a james bond. there's been so many hokey piss-poor actors playing bond over the years and i think it's great that we got one who can actually act.

Oh, what the f*ck ever. Ur still gonna see it and ur still gonna be amazed so shut the f*ck up. Who cares if it's not in the movie? I know it's a famous bond line, but u weren't bitching when they got rid of the stupid gadgets the old films used to use. Get the f*ck used to it cuz this is a dif. bond. I thought casino got that through ur heads but i guess u still can't get used to change. Ur all like a bunch of f*cking conservatives. I really don't give a sh*t how he likes his drink served or the fact he says his last name before he says his first name then his last name again when introducing himself. I just wanna see an awesome movie with bond kickin ass

WHAT THE F*CK?!?!?!? I know they're changin Bond a bit now, (the last film was great) but takin out the only thing that will remind oldies that have seen each film at the cinemas since being a kid is a HUGE mistake, they wont even be able to make crappy jokes on the news when newer ones are released, IDIOTS!!! and no "shaken, not stirred"?!?!? come on, keep at least 1 of em in, dumbasses

It's not even that big of a deal to take it out. It's not like he is saying anything corny in either phrase. So why would it need to be taken out when somebody asks his name, or he orders a drink he tells them how he would like it? It's pretty common for people to say how they would like their order... maybe common sense is gone from the world today idk.
